PhotoHunt - Book(s)

Lemony Snicket

I know I'm late but better later that never! This week's PhotoHunt theme is Book(s). My kids loved reading Lemony Snicket but now that they are older they sort of lost interest I guess. They also forget they have them because they are stuffed inside their closet. Time to get them out! If you want to join the PhotoHunt crew click on the link! Hope you are enjoying your weekend♥

TGIF, Even with the Rain!

So glad is Friday! I had a busy and moody week, didn't feel like blogging. Kept starting a post but my mind would drift some place else. I'm in a funk but the fact that is Friday is making feel a bit better.

I'm sipping on a café to warm up mis huesos and eating a bagel. ¡Que rico está! It's another rainy day in NY and I'm enjoying it! So grab that umbrella and prepare for a bad hair day! You know, I remember when I was young how I used to hate when it rained because that meant my hair would turn into a cotton ball. I have curly hair so I used to blow dry my hair for almost 2 hours twice a week because I wanted to have straight hair. I felt I looked pretty if my hair was straight. Now, no me importa si llueve o no/I don't care if it rains or not. Sure, it bothers me that my hair turns into cotton ball or that I'm going to have to waste more gel, shampoo and conditioner if I just washed it the day before but these days I just put it on a pony tail or a messy bun and off I go. Como decimos en Puerto Rico, al que no le guste que no se lo coma!

Age changes de la manera que uno piensa/your way of thinking. I no longer blow dry my hair (too much work and can't afford to have someone else do it). I do relax it (at home) to loosen up my curls and I use gel and infussion 23 leave in treatment to keep it in place and looking nice.

All this hair talk made me think about a Twit from Ms Latina yesterday. She asked which one do we like better Hispanic or Latina. I like Latina/Latinos. Suena más exótico! I haven't heard President Obama saying it but now she made me curious. She said she liked how he pronounced it, lol. Google here I come!

  6. A woman who looked like Sarah McLachlan (no idea why the woman looked like her other that she's one fav singers), my cat and a man; those were the cast of characters in a recent dream and it was disturbing.
  7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to catching up with blogging, tomorrow my plans include doing laundry and Sunday, I want to try to relax!

Google & Wolfram Alpha.

I read about Wolfram Alpha and was curious how it worked. People kept saying is it the next Google. I subscribe to Cnet's newsletter because I'm into techie stuff so I like to know what's new out there even if I'm broke and won't be able to buy anything anytime soon! I received one of their emails and there it was! They compared Wolfram Alpha and Google, which one is best for what etc. Check out the video below!

PhotoHunt - Plastic

This week PhotoHunt theme is plastic. It was harder than I thought to find a picture for this theme. This picture was taken at Central Park last year. It's full with plastic things, from the rides to the signs. We spent that day laying in the grass getting a suntan, munching and just enjoying the beautiful weather. We had a great time!

So glad it's Friday! I'm getting a cold slowly but surely. Running to the pharmacy later to stock up on tissues and halls again because my son is getting over a cold and we are out of everything. Didn't sleep much last night because of a sore throat, the worse! My daughter is also with a runny nose and and a headache but it doesn't seem to be bothering her as much, thank God! Not good cuando Mami no se siente bien/when Mami is not feeling well. Ouch, my throat hurts like hell!

Thursday Thirteen - I noticed.

Sorry I haven't posted in some time but I have been busy with life. Been running around doing errands and going to appointments. By the time I get home all I want to do is sit and not think of anything. I sit to watch TV and find myself nodding off like if I'm 70 years old but when I try to sleep I can't because I keep thinking of everything I did during the day or need to do. So I am glad is Thursday!

I took some pictures and a video while I was in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Will try post them later today or tomorrow. I try to take pictures everytime I go out these days since I don't go out often. Makes you notice things you never noticed before.

I'm expecting a movie today and I'm so looking forward to it. I rented The X-files: I want to believe. It's old but I'm a fan! I hope it won't disappoint. Talking about disappointment, I wished The Day the Earth Stood Still had more content. It was too short! It was a good movie but I felt they could have done so much more with it. Keanu played the character really good. I enjoyed the first scenes with him and Kathy Bates a lot. Funny, like The Matrix he was wearing a black suit again.

It's Thursday Thirteen again. This week my 13 are things I noticed when I was riding the train this week.

  1. The girl with the bloody heels because her sandals were scraping the back. I wanted to offer her a band aid even though I didn't have one!
  2. The man ogling at the little girl's butt. She was about 15 years old. I wanted to say to him how sick can you be.
  3. The man sitting across from me smiling at me. Didn't know if he was smiling because he was thinking about something, because he was poking fun at me or because he thought I looked nice. Even though it made me feel weird I hope it was the last one!
  4. The girl with a push up bra and a white summer dress. A guy flirts with her, she smiles and walks further in the train. Stands in front of an old man who was looking up. She felt uncomfortable I guess and walked back to where the first guy was and starts chatting him up. Weird!
  5. The man standing in front of my daughter and me who forced us to look at the floor or the side for an hour because his crotch was in our faces!
  6. The man who was sitting next to me reading a book and kept fucking moving his legs over and over. Spreading them, what the fuck! You got teeth down there?
  7. The guy sitting next to me listening to music while holding his phone to his ear. Ever heard of headphones?
  8. The two guys in a suit sitting across from us who kept looking at us. What they have never seen Latinas? LOL
  9. The girl sitting next to me with her friend and across her mother and I'm assuming sister. Bitch was showing off and I wanted to smack her! Thank God for headphones and music!
  10. The woman who switched to another seat because she didn't wanted to be next to the guy who had just sat next to her. She didn't wanted him to dirty her dress (dress was white) I guess.
  11. The construction worker who was wearing button up jeans instead of a zipper and one of the button was undone. I looked away right away, I didn't wanted to see no pipi while my daughter was sitting next to me! LOL
  12. The woman who kept staring at me and made me wonder if I my makeup was messed up or something.
  13. The sexy guy who was wearing a nice pair of jeans, a t-shirt and had a zodiacal tattoo on his arm. He looked so damn good!

On a Lighter Note.

I was watching America's Funniest Video and they showed this video. It was the winner of last years top price. I was laughing so hard my stomach was hurting after. I'm not poking fun at the poor woman I was laughing at what she was saying and how she was screaming! Want to make that clear. ;-)

Friday Fill-Ins.

So glad it's Friday! My week hasn't been great, I am so damn ready for the weekend. On weekends I let go of almost all my worries and I get to relax for two days. Well, one and half day, lol.

I opened my Netflix account again after almost 7 months of not renting. I finally saw Eagle Eye and boy that movie was so freaking good! It was adrenaline pumping non stop. I loved it. I haven't had a rush like that in a long time, lol. If you haven't seen that movie you should! I missed renting movies. I picked the 1 movie at a time unlimited plan because that's what I can afford right now. But now I'm thinking is it worth to just do one movie instead of two. I was supposed to get a movie (The Day the Earth Stood Still) on Tuesday and 'till this day I haven't received it and I am pissed! I wanted to return it on Wednesday so I could get a new one by Saturday but guess not! I'm hoping I will get it either today or tomorrow if not Netflix is going to hear from moi!

Ok, on to today's Friday Fill-Ins! If you would like to join in the fun you can go here.

1. If we had no winter I would be miserable I have to have my cold weather!
2. My imagination is a perpetual astonishment.
3. If I had my life to live over I would make many different choices one of them learn at an early age to speak my mind.
4. I have to make space on my DVR inside of four and twenty hours.
5. If you've never been thrilled you have to visit Rockefeller Center at winter when it's snowing.
6. To be interested in the changing seasons is to be prepared for something new and different.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to watching season finales, tomorrow my plans include doing laundry, watching a movie and Sunday, I want to relax and prepare myself mentally to the week ahead!

Thursday Thirteen - Favorite TV Shows!

It's a rainy day in NY. Fairly quiet which is the way I like it! I know this is NY and it's not going to be quiet. Get a damn key or call them on the phone...

I went to sleep early last night, 12:45 AM (that's early for me, lol). Wasn't in the best of moods yesterday. Today I feel a lot better which is why I'm blogging. Lets hope I keep feeling like this throughout the whole day!

You Might Be Rich!

Yes, you read that right! Over the weekend I watched a recording of Dateline. The show was about people who someone else had left them money and with time it just got misplaced or they couldn't find the person. Dateline went in search of some of the people who had unclaimed money and they didn't even know it! It was a great show, I loved the story with the man from Germany. It made me cry, he, he. You can go their site and see parts if not the whole show.

While you are on their site you can also check if you have some unclaimed money! Scroll down and you can check state by state. You can also check here and here, the last one you can check the District of Columbia and PR. You don't have to pay anything to check so be careful with websites that do ask. Be patient because it loads slow. Hey you never know if someone left you some money or if there is check from whatever waiting for you so it's worth the wait! Ca-ching, coño! Here is an excerpt from their website.

Welcome to the wonderful little secret called unclaimed property: It could be an old paycheck, stock note, or inheritance that’s owed to you. When no one claims these valuables, they’re eventually turned over to a state— where they may languish for years. On “Dateline,” we showed people who were happy to discover they had forgotten treasure.

I decided to join Thursday Thirteen after I saw it on ShauniSpeaks's Blog. Thought is good excuse to rant about whatever I want and do it thirteen times! I'm kidding, lol. I'm late but it is still Thursday! If you would like to join Thursday Thirteen go here.

Here we go: Thirteen Things About ME!

  1. I use the F word a lot. I have been trying to tone it down.
  2. English is not my first language so my grammar might not always be perfect.
  3. I have an accent when I speak English and when I get nervous it gets worse.
  4. I have to use baby powder after I take a shower. It's up there with using deodorant, lol.
  5. I bake a cake from a box every week and that's our dessert or snack. Saves me money on cookies etc.
  6. I get very very sleepy after I eat.
  7. I snore when I'm tired. Yes, women snore too, lol.
  8. I rather walk 10 blocks to get to the Chase ATM than to pay $1.50 to 3.00 to take out money. Fuck NO!
  9. I get bitchy when I don't get enough sleep.
  10. I have to speak in Spanish more often because I'm forgetting. I even think in English now! Noooo.
  11. The super's voice annoys the hell out of me. He puts me on edge, don't know why!
  12. When someone knocks on my door I jump and my heart starts racing. Long story plus I hate visitors.
  13. Lately I have been forgetful, don't know if it is old age or stress.

And there you have it! Have a great day or night! It's only 2:26PM but looks like it's 6:30PM. I need to go out so rain stay away...♥

Christina Aguilera's First Film.

Christina Aguilera is making her first film called Burlesque. It's a movie musical. Will be about a small town girl who finds success in a Los Angeles club. I was wondering when she was going to do a movie. Should be interesting to see her in the big screen. She has one of the greatest singing voices in my opinion. I get chills when I listen to her sing and she's a Latina which makes it even better!

Funny thing is everyone thought she was going to turn into a loquita (wild) and then she got married and became a Mami. Glad everything is going good for her and that she found a decent man. Those are hard to find these days, están escasos (they are scarce)!

The Hoff & David Cook.

The Hoff like they call him these days, has been drinking again and a lot according to PopEater. He was taken to the hospital after his daughter found him and kept moving him even smacking him and he wouldn't wake up. She called her mother and she rushed there. However his publicist says his ex exaggerated the whole story because she hates his guts and wants to damage his reputation! He better get his act together one of these days he won't be so lucky! I love this animation, that's from Spongebob, I had to use it!

On a sad note David Cook's brother, Adam Cook died over the weekend. As you all know he had cancer for a long time even went into remission I believe. My condolences to David and his family. It's sad, David makes it big and looses his brother at the same time. I'm glad they got to share some time together and he got to see David's career take off. You can see him below giving a speech and announcing the passing of his brother at the Race for Hope in Washington DC, it made teary eye to hear him trying to keep it together. My thoughts are with him.♥♥

Prince Talks!

When I was a teenager I used to have a big poster (the album cover you see below) of Prince on my wall. I lived in PR and that was the first time I ever heard about him. I would listen to his album Purple Rain almost everyday, lol. I would dress with the same style and I even got the same haircut! He was so HOT to me! He still looks good for his age and he still ROCKS!

My grandmother would go crazy when I played his music because as you know the Purple Rain album has a lot electric guitar screeching. She used to yell 'Mira apaga esa mierda carajo' (turn off that shit fuck), lol. She hated when I left the house wearing my spikes and my spray painted hair, lol. The good old days!

He rarely grants an interview but he was on The Tavis Smiley Show promoting his new triple CD album (yes you heard it right it has 3!) Lotusflow3r. He said he suffered from epilepsy when he was young and his parent didn't know how what to do. He was bullied and as a way of coping he taught himself how to play piano. I'm glad he did, he turn out to be a great musician/singer/writer. You can read more at Spinner. I have seen his commercial and I like the song, I bop my head to it every time time it comes on, lol. I haven't heard his latest songs on the radio yet or maybe I'm not listening to the hip stations, lol. Bueno como se dice en Puerto Rico como Prince no hay ninguno! Es el es la jodienda!(Like they say in Puerto Rico there is no one like Prince! He's the shit!) You don't have to be rich to be my girl, you don't have to be cool to rule my world. Ahh oohh...♥ Pin It Now!

Buy that Protection Plan!

I wrote about Sony making a cut on their PS2 not too long ago. I mentioned that they are going to make a lot money off it because of the economy. Well, they are sure making lots of more millions after April 1! This is what happened, I bought my kids a PS3 in 2007. It was very expensive so that was my son's Birthday present and their Christmas's present. We didn't have any problem with it. It ran smoothly, we watched movies with it and they used it everyday.

On April 1 there was an update and my son of course was happy because that means they add new things. He set it up to download and we sat down to eat dinner. Then out of the blue the PS3 turns off by itself. He thought it had finished downloading and for some reason it needed to restart. He didn't think anything of it but went to check anyway and that's when the shit hit the fan! The damn thing wouldn't go on, it would beep to go on and then it would beep twice and go off again. The PS3 was dead! He got really upset and so did I! I thought immediately it had to be the update. Sure enough I went to check on their forum and there where about 30 other people already who had the same problem. Plus there were others who's playstation started glitching after the update.

Our warranty had already expired of course. We then found out Sony decided it was not their fault that over 300 PS3 consoles got fucked up because of their update and said that if we wanted our consoles repaired each one of us unlucky motherfuckers who's console got fucked had to pay $150 + tax!! Can you fucking believe it? I called them of course and let them know that was a shitty thing to do. The representative tells me there is nothing she could do and gave me the info. This is when the whole protection plan came in. When I bought it I put a protection plan for 2 or 3 years from Circuit City. It cost me $150 because it has the accidental protection also. Sure it's a lot of money to pay but the console cost me a lot so I said it is worth it.

Circuit City as you know closed, I thought how the hell am I going to contact these people if I can contact them at all. Will I get my money etc. I was a nervous wreck because it cost a lot, we use it to watch movies and aside the computer, TV that's the only entertainment we have. Thanks to google (one of the best things ever invented!) I found the telephone number of the insurance company from other people who also had bought their TV, computer etc from Circuit City. They had horror stories about the insurance company saying they never got their money, others got half of the money they paid for the item and some are still waiting for it. I called them and everything went smoothly. They said I would get the money as soon as UPS scanned the label, around 7 to 10 days. I thought that sounds too good to be true! Still a nervous wreck I sent it in. I tracked the package to make sure I know what's going on. It was picked up on April 22 and they received it on April 28. The same day they received it I got my check in the mail!! Shit you have no idea how happy I was when I got that check!

We went that same day to purchase a new one (PS3) and put a protection plan on it again. All with the money I got from the insurance, I didn't had to pay a cent. We ended up losing $65 because the MGS4 (son was pissed about that, since he met Hideo when he bought it) disk was stuck inside and we couldn't get it out since the console wouldn't turn on. Why Sony didn't added the little hole computers have to take out a disk, have no idea! Wouldn't it be nice if whoever opens the console sends us back the disk? NOT!

So people if you purchase something that is over $100/$150 and you are not rich, add that protection plan! Depending on what you get they offer 2 to 3 years for $60 or more. For those of you who purchased something from Circuit City and need to get in touch with the insurance company you can go here and here to find out where to call.

Oh and by the way that same night we took out our PS2 to use meanwhile and the button to open the disk door got stuck, second console (with protection plan) also because the first one stopped working. I tried to get it unstuck but nada, it stopped working also! So we lost 2 damn Playstations in one night. Just our luck...

Friday Fill-Ins!

Good morning, TGIF! This week seemed to last forever. I'm a walking zombie, have been going to sleep very late so I need to catch some zzzz's pronto. Last night the kids kept bumping me (saying Mami levantate!) to wake me up because we were watching Fringe and I kept falling asleep. I couldn't keep my eyes open, lol.

It's a rainy day in NY and I'm enjoying the rain falling on my AC. It reminds me of Puerto Rico when it would rain for hours and the water falling on the tin roof would put us to sleep. Ah, the good old days! There is no one in the streets right now, so peaceful. Won't last for long so I better enjoy it! Have a great day!!♥

It's Friday Fill-ins again! If you would like join follow the link.
