Been Busy With Life.

Sorry, I haven't been blogging that much lately. I have been busy with life. By the time I get home, all I want to do is sit down for the rest of the day but I can't because I have to get in the kitchen to cook dinner. Thank God mis hijos/my kids are not too picky when it comes to dinner!

I'm still in search of the fan that will satisfy my needs, lol. I'm laughing but I'm frustrated at this point. I purchased three and had to return them all! First I bought the Holmes Stand Fan (18 inches) for $39.99 + $17 for the protection plan. I returned it because even though it was big it didn't blow enough air and it was too quiet. Ok, I just realized this sounds a bit dirty!

Anyway, then I bought the Honeywell Quiet Stand Fan (16 inches), it was on sale for $45 + $17 for the protection plan. I read the reviews, people said it was good but noisy. It was neither! Didn't blow enough air and it was quiet. At least too quiet for me. The first two I got them at Target. The third one I bought it at Best Buy. At this point I was willing to pay a little bit more. I bought the Honeywell Whole Room Air Circulator fan, I paid $39.99 but didn't get the protection plan. I overpaid for this one because they have it at Target for less. Problem is, they only sell it online. I had this fan (or so I thought) years back and it lasted for about two to three years. I get to Best Buy, I'm almost running because they had only two left. I was even thinking of buying two of them! The problem, it was the same fan but in a smaller size! I was so fucking pissed, lol. It blows good air but not enough for the price I paid and again it was too quiet. 

So I still have no fan. Searched online at Sears, Kmart and Walmart. Found one at Sears, OceanAire High Velocity Floor Fan (20 inches) for $49.99. Have to pick it up all the way down in Queens but I don't care, I need a good noisy fan, coño. Hopefully this one will be IT! My daughter told me when I bought the last one, you better like this one because we are not going to exchange another fan! LOL I said ok, I went to return it with my son.

Other than returning fans, I have been going to appointments and running errands. Had blood work done because I haven't done that since last year, actually I think it has been longer than that. My thyroid is probably out of balance. I get the results next week, wish I didn't have to wait that long. It's a bit nerve wrecking! Now to make a visit to the dentist (how I dread this visit!) and the ophthalmologist. My vision has gotten bad, can't barely read anything without my glasses anymore. La vejez/Old age!

Talking about old age, recently I noticed I have lots of gray hairs around my hairline, mainly on the sides! I'm feeling like Samantha from Sex in the City, when she found a gray hair on her crotch, lol! She bought hair dye to dye her pubic hairs, lol. I did the same thing! No, not for my crotch. LOL I bought two boxes of Lorea'l Feria Power Reds #R68. It is super red, but because my hair dark brown is going to look darker. I love that color, makes me feel sexy! Hopefully it will cover all my canas/gray hairs. I'll post a picture..

I Wish You Enough.

I Wish You Enough! 

I received the following story through an e-mail and I want to pass it on.......

Recently I overheard a Father and a Daughter in their last moment together at the airport.

They had announced the departure.

Standing near the security gate, they hugged and the Father said, "I love you, and I wish you enough."

The Daughter replied, "Dad, our life together has been more than enough. Your love is all I ever needed. I wish you enough too, Dad."

They kissed and the Daughter left.

The Father walked over to the window where I was seated.

Standing there I could see he wanted and needed to cry.

I tried not to intrude on his privacy, but he welcomed me in by asking, "Did you ever say goodbye to someone, knowing that it would be forever?"

"Yes, I have," I replied. "Forgive me for asking, but why is this a forever goodbye?"

"I am old, and she lives so far away. I have challenges ahead and the reality is − the next trip back will be for my funeral," he said.

"When you were saying goodbye, I heard you say, 'I wish you enough.' May I ask what does that mean?"

He began to smile. "That's a wish that has been handed down from other generations. My parents used to say it to everyone."

He paused a moment and looked up as if trying to remember it in detail, and he smiled even more.

"When we said, 'I wish you enough’, we were wanting the other person to have a life filled with just enough good things to sustain them."

Then turning toward me, he shared the following as if he were reciting it from memory.

"I wish you enough sun to keep your attitude bright no matter how gray the day may appear."

"I wish you enough rain to appreciate the sun even more."

"I wish you enough happiness to keep your spirit alive and everlasting."

"I wish you enough pain so that even the smallest of joys in life may appear bigger."

"I wish you enough gain to satisfy your wanting."

"I wish you enough loss to appreciate all that you possess."

"I wish you enough hellos to get you through the final goodbye."

He then began to cry and walked away.......

To my virtual friends, you know who you are. I wish you enough...

A Trip to the Nintendo Store.

Last weekend, I took my grandson to Rockefeller center in New York City to visit the Nintendo Store. He’s 8 years old, and Nintendo seems to be half of his life here lately—you know how boys are. After spending nearly two hours in the place, he wanted to purchase just about everything the store had to offer, but I had to let him know that his granddad’s wallet had limits!

He tried out about every single game that they had on display, and he couldn’t have been happier. There were about 10 video game stations or so, and all the other kids were playing the games at the same time. I’d just put my new HearingAids in, too, so everything was loud and clear. Eventually I convinced my grandson to leave, but it wasn’t easy.

Afterwards, I took him to his favorite restaurant: McDonalds. He’s a big fan of the kids meals, and I usually take him to get one on our outings.

Sometimes I spoil him more than his parents would like, but what kind of Granddad would I be if I didn’t.

There’s a reason they call New York City one of the most exciting places on earth. I think that’s why I decided to move here when I retired—you know, most people go down south to settle in a retirement community in Florida. But me? No way—I wanted to enjoy my new found freedom.

But there’s only one wrench in my plan: I’ve noticed that my hearing has been a little dulled lately, even here on the bustling streets of the Big Apple. I can hear people when they’re talking right beside me, but it’s hard to tell when the Subway is coming from afar or when the crosswalk is chiming or not.That’s when I decided to stop by Miracle Ear New York to get fitted for my new hearing aids.


They’re working so well, I even called my cousin in Maryland to recommend them to her, since she’d been having trouble with her ears, too. Back In The 80's.

On Saturday I saw the movie War Games con mis hijos/with my children. Yes, the one with Mathew Broderick. My son started watching it first although he complained that it was too old but I told him to keep watching that he was going to like it. And sure enough he was completely into the movie minus the music, then my daughter followed. They both enjoyed it even though it was an old movie. 

I think I'm going to start a tradition to watch an 80's or 90's movie once a month. Since I don't have movies from when I was a teenager just limited pictures at least they can see how times were back then through movies. How people lived, dressed and passed their time. Of course it might not always be accurate but it will give them an idea. Also, you know how youngins complain these days about what they have and what to do to entertain themselves, this my way of letting them know they are lucky in so many ways.

Movies now are very different from the 80's movies so they also get an opportunity to share with me the movies I saw back then. They get a kick out of my stories, lol. Which I am totally happy about!

In Harry Potter's Shoes.

My grandkids just love all the Harry Potter movies and books. So I've of course been the one to take them to see most of the movies. So when I heard that they were opening up a Harry Potter theme park I was so excited to take them! But before we went I wanted to make sure that I would get the full experience of it so I got some hearing tests and bought some hearings aids.

I was so glad because I got to take in all the sights and sounds of Hogwarts and the Hogsmeade village. They even had a fake little Hagrid's hut set up! We even drank some butterbeer - which doesn't have alcohol in it - and got to try on wands for size at the little wand shop, just like in the movies!

I'm pretty sure that I had more fun there than my grandkids did and I'm already planning our next trip! I'm going to look up some butterbeer recipes and try to make them for them. I doubt they'll be as good as the real deal at the park, but I'm sure they'll still be delicious!

I was looking through TMZ and found these pictures. I am a fan of both! They are actors who look like machos, coño. No waxed eyebrows, not overly tanned or too put together. Over 40 and looking riquísimo! Como el vino, mientras más viejo mejor/Like wine, the older the better.♥♥

Review - Edge Nail Art.

I have always loved nail art. I stopped using them for some time because I would go have my nails done every once in a while. That stopped about 7 years ago. Too expensive to have your nails done, at least for me. I decided to start doing my nails myself and start using nail art again. 

I bought this for my daughter but she never used them so when I ran out of the ones I use I decided to use hers. As you can see in the picture they are punk rock style. I thought I think I would look a bit foolish at my age with this on my nails. Then I thought but I consider myself a cool rockin Mom so why not!  

The first few times the stickers would come off fast, the edges would curl up because I put them on when my nails were still wet. Once I let my nails dry for at least 5 minutes before putting it on they stayed on. The trick is letting your nails dry and then add a good top coat of clear nail polish on top. I did mine about 4 days ago and they are still intact. You can see the results in the pictures below although I took that picture the same day I did them. They look neat because I took it after I took a shower which is what I use to remove the nail polish off my skin. Using a q-tip takes too long! My nails were long but had to cut them because one broke plus my nails were hurting from using them to type. Kudos for those who can use their real nails to type without pain.

So if you like doing your own nails and want to add some pizazz you should try these. They have different styles and as you can see they are mainly for young girls but if you are like me that still feel young in some ways then go for it! You can purchase them at the locations below. If you give them a try I would love to see the results!♥

Tips:

• Don't use your nails as tools. I used to do that and my nails would chip and break easily.
• Use gloves to do dishes if you aren't one of the lucky ones to have a dishwasher. So wish I had one!

Control of the Radio.

My grandson Kyle is at the age when he insists to listen to his favorite music all the time, even when he’s riding in my car on the way to karate class. I’ve always been territorial over my radio stations and music programming but I grin and bear it because it’s just for a little while each week. Besides, he keeps the volume turned down pretty low – or I thought so until recently.

I got so tired of saying “what” and asking people to repeat things in conversations every day that I took the initiative and looked up hearing aids.

I went in for a free hearing test, chose the hearing aid I wanted and got fitted with it all within a matter of a week. My kids and friends are so happy that I can hear better now and don’t embarrass them or myself in public by feeling like I have to shout to hear myself talk.

But I can’t say that Kyle is as thrilled about my new addition. I still let him listen to his music in my car, I just don’t let him blast the speakers now.♥ Pin It Now!

Medical Alert System - My Grandfather.

August is around the corner, a month that always brings memories of my grandfather. You see he passed away 16 years ago of a heart attack. What is still upsetting to me is that it could have been avoided had my family thought about getting him a Medical Guardian for when he was home alone which was often. He never went to the doctor, he didn't believe in that. However he had problems with his knees, it was hard for him to stand up and he couldn't walk long distances. He also had vision problems but he was still able to drive. Other than that he seemed fine but obviously he wasn't.

He was home alone when he suffered a heart attack. My grandmother was away visiting my aunt for a week. My cousin and her mom would check on him but this time they didn't do it enough. My cousin passed by but when he didn't answered the door she went through the next door neighbor's yard to look inside and that's when she saw him. He was naked with his hands clenched against his chest slumped back in his bed. Guess he was trying to get up and couldn't. According to the medical examiner he had been dead for at least 2 to 3 days. If he had been wearing a medical alert button, he wouldn't had passed away so soon. Saddest thing is, he had just met my children for the first time and he was over the moon. He passed away a few days after I returned home. He could have seen my children grow up.

If you have elderly parents, grandparents or a family member that you are not able to check on more than once a day please take the time to look at the medical alert system information. It could be a matter of life and death for them like in my grandfather's case. Also make sure you have their place prepared to prevent falls. Like a grab bar in the tub or shower and next to the toilet. Check the stairs for anything sticking out that there is slip resistance material. Proper lighting where is needed etc. There are many things one can do to keep our loved ones in good health. Self Esteem Boost.

Be warned, this post will have some cursing. I was running errands yesterday and I had to get to the bank before it closed so I took a taxi. I get in the car, and the driver says Ay que rico hueles, cualquiera se enamora con una mujer como tú/Oh you smell good, anyone would fall in love with a woman like you. This was totally unexpected, I laughed. I thought ok, what did I do today that I haven't been doing everyday? 

Yes, I haven't been complimented by a man in a long time. The driver then asked me the question that somehow I knew was coming, tú eres Puertorriqueña/are you Puerto Rican, I said yes. He then says, tú pareces española tienes un físico bello/you look Spaniard you have a beautiful physique. With a big question mark over my head, I just said gracias/thanks and smiled. We get to the bank and he says cuídate preciosa/take care beautiful. I of course thanked him, he made my day. Now, I was very flattered and at the same time I felt awkward. Like I didn't deserved it, I know I am that fucked up. My self esteem is almost non existent at this time. Haters, fucked up people can do that to you, even your own family. 

I am over 40 years old, I struggle with my self esteem issues. However at this point I'm starting not to give a shit what people think about me 'some days' when I'm in a fuck it mood. Most days it does gets to me and those days I want to crawl in a hole and not come out. Hence the name of my blog in case anyone was curious. 

So, to the stranger driving the taxi, gracias for giving me a much needed self esteem boost! Good to know that even if not everyone sees it, I still got it! Although I have sworn off dating, sex, relationships and men for now or maybe forever. Really, who the fuck needs the headache!
