Most women these days want to look like a celebrity. I mean, let's face it, celebrities are everywhere, pushing products and clothing everyday. Whatever they wear most of us want to wear it. However, not everyone can spend thousands of dollars to look like a celebrity. Some of us have to make do with what we can afford, right? Just because something costs more it doesn't mean that it's a better product. That's not always the case.

I can't afford to buy high end cosmetics or clothes, so I choose a few things that I think should be of higher quality. I have oily skin, so I feel I should spend a bit more on my foundation, blush and one or two good makeup brushes like the ones from Bh Cosmetics. The rest I purchase at the drugstore, at least for now. I read and watch video reviews on products I plan to buy ahead of time to make sure that it's worth the money. Although some stores let you exchange/return products.

Although for some, no matter how much they spend, it really doesn't make a difference because of their lifestyles, if you know what I mean. I read about the makeup styles. I think I'm either type 4 or 5, which is either Selena Gomez or Beyonce's look. I tend to do the type 5 look without eyeliner during warm to hot weather, or if I'm in a rush. During colder weather, I wear a bit of more makeup because it doesn't melt off my face in an hour. Check out the rest below, there are 6 in total. Small accents and pops of this radiant color are a great way to freshen up your décor. “Incorporate simple naranjada-toned pieces like throw pillows and blankets or lacquer trays and vases in your living room or bedroom,” says Sabrina Soto, host of HGTV’s “The High/Low Project.” “Small appliances in tangerine, such as toasters, teakettles or coffeemakers are fun touches for the kitchen; and adding towels in this shade is a simple solution in the bathroom.”

Mix It In
“To make this trendy color timeless, bring in neutral hues to pair with it,” says Michelle Dunbar, owner of Fashion House Interior Design Co. “Go for a Sedona-inspired palette with deep rust, plus brown, tan or cream along with muted orange. If gray is your neutral, play it up with tangerine and white.”

Make a Permanent Statement
“Custom upholstery is a perfect way to tie Tangerine Tango in for good,” says Soto. Cover a pair of matching chairs or a large ottoman in a solid or patterned fabric for your living room, or order a tufted headboard for your bedroom. “Another great way to add this color is to purchase a few pieces of accent furniture or accessories, such as poufs, side tables, small area rugs and table lamps. “Go bold by painting one wall in your living room this shade,” says Dunbar. “It will really liven up a neutral-toned sofa.”

Skip the Splurge
“An inexpensive way of incorporating orange and tangerine tones in a big way is by using jersey slipcovers on your existing chairs or sofa,” says Dunbar. They cost about $40 and come in a variety of sizes. “Check out vintage and consignment stores, as well as weekend flea markets, for surprising finds,” says Soto.

Your co-worker always looks fabulosa in her cocktail dress, no matter what she weighs. It’s not that she has a perfect shape; she simply knows how to dress for her body type. Figure out your type here, and find a dress style that will make you feel glamorous and beautiful on your big night out.

Hourglass Shape: Considered to be the most ideal body type, the hourglass shape boasts breast and hip measurements that are almost identical.

Dress: Although the hourglass’ best feature is her waist, don’t overemphasize it with a skin-tight slinky number, advises Barbosa. Instead, choose a flowy look and complete it with a belt to show off your small waist.

Pear or Spoon Shape: The pear shape is one of the most common body types -- especially for Latinas -- and features a more bountiful booty.

Dress: Choose a flattering empire cut that balances your bounty by featuring your upper half.

Apple Shape: Slightly bigger around the tummy, you’re lucky because you have skinny arms and legs, making it easy to camouflage your trouble spots.

Dress: It’s all about the structured look for you. A shift’s vertical lines will create a longer, leaner look.

Tube (Ruler) Shape: Often called “the boy shape,” the tube has minimal curves and is straight up and down.

Dress: Try a wrap or another style that is cinched or gathered at the waist to help create an hourglass figure.

Regardless of body type, you should ultimately shop for clothing that makes you feel beautiful. And remember to embrace your curves. After all, accepting (and loving!) your body is the first step in selecting clothes that will consistently fit and flatter.

You’ve already rid your home of the things you no longer use. Next is finding smart ways to keep it organized and chic. “The trick to making spaces look polished and finished is allowing the eye to see open horizontal spaces and only keeping visible what looks stylish,” says Helene Segura, an organization and productivity expert with LivingOrder in San Antonio. Try some of these fine-tuning tweaks to make your home show-ready.

La Antesala
Add a classic-style coat rack (with a wood base and metal hooks) on the wall, which gives everyone a place to hang up their belongings when they walk through the door. “If you have a larger entry, consider mudroom pieces that come in styles that range from locker room flashbacks, to country-chic, to gorgeous teak,” says Segura.

La Sala
If your functional furniture lacks a little jazz, opt for a clean, contemporary look. Consider spray-painting pieces in a cream color to add instant glamour. Forget utilitarian storage boxes. Instead, try ones that are made out of posh materials, such as velvet, leather or horn. Add rustic accents with bronze or wooden baskets. “For a uniform look, purchase varying sizes in the same style or buy sets of three in multiple colors within your color palette,” says Segura.

La Cocina
Families spend much of their time here. So keep it spacious. After you’ve cleared counters and used all of the cupboards and the upper reaches of the cabinetry, all that should be visible are neutral-colored earthenware containers to store grains, sugar, flour or any other foods.

El Dormitorio
If you’re using the area under your bed to store items, add a sham or trimming to hide what’s underneath. Also don’t cram the space. “Use long, rectangular plastic containers sorted by category,” says Segura. They make it easy to find what you need later on.

El Baño
Cabinets with glass-paneled doors create the effect of open space. Eliminate the cluttered look inside by using neutral-colored fine ware jars to stash bathroom supplies. “Tame what’s hidden in the bottom cabinets with a combination of bins with brushed nickel, stainless steel helper shelves or drawer systems,” says Segura.

Hello, Again.

Pulling the spider webs off my blog as I'm typing this. As I said on my previous post, I needed a break from the internet. Then when I was ready to start blogging again, my internet started acting up. Pages wouldn't load or would take forever to load. Since it lasted more than two days I thought it was my computer that needed a fresh installation of windows. Did that but it didn't resolved the problem. Then today it started working out of the blue. My guess it was my internet service that was having problems. So here I am!

How are you handling the hot weather? It has been brutal! I feel bad for those poor people without electricity that were hit with the storm. My prayers to them. I have been staying inside as much as possible. Cooking easy dinners so I don't have to stay in the kitchen for over an hour. The days of me slaving in the kitchen are over, especially when it is extremely hot. Before I used to feel guilty if I didn't cook dinner. I guess is a Latina thing. We are trained to think that if we don't cook dinner we are a mala madre/bad mother. Today I cooked fried tilapia with french fries, a simple dinner but delish. Do you feel guilty when you don't cook dinner or if you cook something simple?

Anyway, I finally got a fan that was good enough this past weekend. If you remember, I bought three fans and returned all three because they sucked! Finally, I had decided on one from Sears. I called to check if they had the fan at the store, placed the order online after they said they had four in stock. Went to pick it up the same day and they tell me they didn't have any. Got my refund, did the same thing for another store. Placed the order then I get an email saying they don't have the fan either, even after I called and they said yes. Ridiculous! The fan they have at their stores looks the same, but it's a different brand. So when I called that's why they said they had it. They didn't bothered to look at it to make sure it was the exact same one. And they still have the fan listed on the site! Horrible customer service! So, I ended up buying a Lasco fan from Target that it was on sale for $37.99. The cheapest one turned out to be the good one, it's noisy and it blows a good amount of air. I'm so happy! Cleaning it is going to be a bitch because the grid is not removable, but I'll deal with it when the time comes.

Been Busy With Life.

Sorry, I haven't been blogging that much lately. I have been busy with life. By the time I get home, all I want to do is sit down for the rest of the day but I can't because I have to get in the kitchen to cook dinner. Thank God mis hijos/my kids are not too picky when it comes to dinner!

I'm still in search of the fan that will satisfy my needs, lol. I'm laughing but I'm frustrated at this point. I purchased three and had to return them all! First I bought the Holmes Stand Fan (18 inches) for $39.99 + $17 for the protection plan. I returned it because even though it was big it didn't blow enough air and it was too quiet. Ok, I just realized this sounds a bit dirty!

Anyway, then I bought the Honeywell Quiet Stand Fan (16 inches), it was on sale for $45 + $17 for the protection plan. I read the reviews, people said it was good but noisy. It was neither! Didn't blow enough air and it was quiet. At least too quiet for me. The first two I got them at Target. The third one I bought it at Best Buy. At this point I was willing to pay a little bit more. I bought the Honeywell Whole Room Air Circulator fan, I paid $39.99 but didn't get the protection plan. I overpaid for this one because they have it at Target for less. Problem is, they only sell it online. I had this fan (or so I thought) years back and it lasted for about two to three years. I get to Best Buy, I'm almost running because they had only two left. I was even thinking of buying two of them! The problem, it was the same fan but in a smaller size! I was so fucking pissed, lol. It blows good air but not enough for the price I paid and again it was too quiet. 

So I still have no fan. Searched online at Sears, Kmart and Walmart. Found one at Sears, OceanAire High Velocity Floor Fan (20 inches) for $49.99. Have to pick it up all the way down in Queens but I don't care, I need a good noisy fan, coño. Hopefully this one will be IT! My daughter told me when I bought the last one, you better like this one because we are not going to exchange another fan! LOL I said ok, I went to return it with my son.

Other than returning fans, I have been going to appointments and running errands. Had blood work done because I haven't done that since last year, actually I think it has been longer than that. My thyroid is probably out of balance. I get the results next week, wish I didn't have to wait that long. It's a bit nerve wrecking! Now to make a visit to the dentist (how I dread this visit!) and the ophthalmologist. My vision has gotten bad, can't barely read anything without my glasses anymore. La vejez/Old age!

Talking about old age, recently I noticed I have lots of gray hairs around my hairline, mainly on the sides! I'm feeling like Samantha from Sex in the City, when she found a gray hair on her crotch, lol! She bought hair dye to dye her pubic hairs, lol. I did the same thing! No, not for my crotch. LOL I bought two boxes of Lorea'l Feria Power Reds #R68. It is super red, but because my hair dark brown is going to look darker. I love that color, makes me feel sexy! Hopefully it will cover all my canas/gray hairs. I'll post a picture..

No More Semi Cold Food!

I haven't blogged in almost a week. Not that I didn't wanted to, but I have been busy with life, running around doing errands, etc. Also, a freaking pipe broke in the apartment above mine so the water ended up in my living room. Lucky me! Part of my ceiling is basically hanging by a thread of paint. Can you say that? I don't know. Anyway, this happened last week on Thursday. So we have been limited to a corner of the living room. Not fun at all. Was told they were coming today at 9am to fix it but so far nada. I had to cancel an appointment to stay here so they better show up, coño!

As you can see by the picture below, I finally was able to buy a microwave! It's so shiny and new! It's not a fancy one with all the bells and whistles but it is good enough for us. We bought it at Target for $59.99 plus the protection plan, $17. Had to spend those extra dollars so I don't end up losing money if this stops working out of the blue. God, how missed having microwave, had to use the oven to warm up everything. There were many times I had to eat my dinner semi cold because I didn't wanted to turn on the oven. So yay for me, I can now warm up my food in one minute!

We also bought a desk for my daughter's bedroom. She has a desk but not in her bedroom, we have it in the living room with her computer that my son also uses. We started putting it together at 2am and we finished at 4:30am. We took our time because we didn't wanted to mess it up. Well, we missed a step, so we had to unscrew two parts half way to fix it. It turned out perfect though, with no broken parts or crooked screws! Looks nice doesn't it? She's ecstatic with her new desk, waited a long time for it.

Oh, I also bought a new fan. Well, sort of. That's for my next post. Hope everyone is enjoying their day. Happy Monday!♥♥

The Lord of The Rings trilogy are on my list of favorite movies of all time, even though I never read the books. First time I ever heard about the books was when the movies came out. Shh, don't tell anyone! I'm dying to see The Hobbit, it will be in theaters in December of this year. Yes! I received an email from WBshop.com with the first official shirt for The Hobbit. Doesn't it look cool, I love it! I used to buy movies and TV shows shirts back in the days. Had a bunch of them, one for every day of the week.

The Challenge Of Shopping On A Holiday.

One of the things that people complain about the most when it comes to any of the numerous holidays that we celebrate on our calendar is shopping for all of the various gifts that we are obligated to buy for the different friends and family members that we have on our lists. There are not many people who enjoy going out to all of the various stores in our area, and fight the large crowds that seem to gather at all of these different places. This can be seen to be one of the most frustrating parts of the holidays.

One of the holidays that we celebrate every year is the holiday that we know as Mother's Day. This is a holiday which was invented here in the United States by a woman who loved her mother very much and wanted to pay tribute to her, and all of the other moms who make so many sacrifices and do so much for their children. They do things like nurse their children through all of the various illnesses that we go through as children, and they do things like give us advice and discipline as well.

One of the ways that we pay tribute to our mother's is by giving them gifts on Mother's Day. One of the most popular of these kinds of gifts is the Mother's Day gift baskets that can be given to them as a part of the occasion. Mother's Day gift baskets can include a number of different things, including things like gift cards, specialty food items, candy, or even movie tickets. The kinds of gifts that you choose are going to depend on the different according to what the mom in your life will like.

Not all of the moms are going to be the same, or like the same kinds of things. Something that is also important is the time and effort that you dedicate to the task of finding the right gift. In order to cut down on the time that you spend going to the store, and trying to search around for the right gift for all of the people that are on your list, whether they be your mom, or someone else. If you do not like going to the stores and shopping, something else that you can use as a good alternative is the internet.

Technology has advanced our world so much, that now if you want to buy something, you do not even have to go to the store to buy it, but you can log onto the website for the retailer, and purchase anything that you want from there. This is a time saving device, as well as a good idea for those who do not enjoy shopping. Whatever gift that you decide to purchase for the people on your list, whether it is for Mother's Day, or any other holiday. As long as you put thought and care into the kinds of gifts that you buy, the recipient is sure to enjoy them.

Spanish Friday - Barato!

A mi encanta cuando encuentro algo bien barato que he esperado a comprar por un buen tiempo por que no he tenido suficiente dinero. Tu sabes como es, cuentas, comida y artículos personales son primero. El año pasado me dí de cuenta que yo puedo comprar un libro de citas bien barato en una tienda de 99¢ que hay por aquí. Si claro tengo que esperar un mes después que empieza el año para que los empiezen a vender, pero me cuesta solamente $1.89! Comparado con $8.99 a $11.99,  que es lo que me cuesta cuando lo compro en Target o más caro si lo compro en otra tienda. Como pueden ver en las fotos, tiene todo lo que necesito. La primera página es plástica, con calendarios desde 2011 hasta 2013. La última página es plástica tambíén, con los días feriados desde 2012 hasta 2015. Que yo sepa no tiene nada malo para que los vendan tan barato. Como que le falte un día a una de las páginas (como he encontrado en los calendarios que he recibido gratis por correo de Betty Crocker or alguíen más) o algo así. Los venden en diferentes tamaños, pero escogí este porque no quiero que ocupe mucho espacio. Me encanta tener cosas de oficinas!

Of course I have to wait a month after the year starts for them to start selling them, but it only costs $1.89! The first page is plastic, with the calendars from 2011 to 2013. The last page is also plastic, with the holidays from 2012 to 2015. That I know of there is nothing wrong with it for them to sell it so cheap. Like a missing day to one of the pages (like I found on free calendars I have received in the mail from Betty Crocker or someone else) or something like that. They sell it in different sizes, but I chose this one because I don't want it to take a lot space. I love having office stuff!

Wait, What?

I'm so HAPPY the weather has cool down a lot this week. Sorry for all the Spring lovers out there. I am enjoying it. I said before that I need a fan on all night to be able to sleep. My good fan broke back in December so I decided before it gets hot and everyone flocks to the stores to get fans, I was going to get mine. Been reading reviews and looking at Target, Best Buy and Bed Bath and Beyond. I have been trying to find my old fan, but so far nada. I decided to get the Holmes Stand Fan, so I went to Target last week determined to get one.

I called the store ahead of time to find out if they had the fan, but it seems like they are too busy to pick up the phone. I called four times and no one picked up, so off I went to Target. I went at night of course, like vampires that we are, lol. I got everything I needed before heading to get the fan. So I'm running like a chicken without a head looking for a fan and nothing. I asked one of the guys who works there, he then tells me that they don't have them on display yet. I was like, wait what? Duh! It never occurred to me that it's not hot enough for them to sell fans yet. Even though Bed Bath and Beyond already are selling fans. I was so disappointed.

It is hell for me to go out, so when I do I want to do as much as I can. Go everywhere possible. Thank God that when we went it was foggy and a bit chilly so there weren't a lot of people. I took some pictures (one below) when we were leaving around 10:50PM. As you can see we were practically the only ones leaving at that time. There were more people inside Target still and a few walking around. The mall closes early besides Target, they close at 11PM! I so love that. Wish the other stores would close at 10PM but most of them close at 9PM.

Hopefully this week I will be able to get one. If anyone happens to know when they are going to be for sale, please let me know. I called to ask but I got transferred and no one picked up on the other end. It sucks, I'm going to keep calling of course. Coño, so much mierda just to buy a fan!

Wet & Wild Fast Dry Nail Polish Review.

I asked my daughter to buy a new nail polish the other day. I was tired of the colors we have. I asked her to get a dark red, she came back with the color you see on the picture. Yep, not red. The color is Teal of Fortune from Wet & Wild. I was a bit upset but what the hell. I'm not a fan of green but since I have it might as well use it. This is my second time using it. I took the picture below after I did the second coat, ignore the messy edges, lol. I don't bother to clean up the edges, it comes off after you take a shower or wash your hands, but if I'm going out right after then I clean it off or I "try" not to paint the edges. I did three coats plus a top coat of Sally Hansen's Nail Growth Miracle nail polish. It didn't take a long time to dry.

I do a lot dishes so I thought it wasn't going to be long before it would start chipping. Not the case! I think it has to do with the glitter. I have noticed that nail polishes with glitter tend to last longer although they are a hassle to remove, but I rather struggle a little bit with removal than having the nail polish chip off the next day! I definitely recommend this nail polish. What's best, if you are on a budget like me, this won't cost you a lot. I have a hard time spending almost $10 on a nail polish, at least for now.

Target Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn Part 1 DVD Event!

Target is going all out with The Twilight Saga Breaking Dawn Part 1 DVD release! I clicked on the ad by mistake thinking it was the weekly ad. I thought I was being invited to a real wedding, lol. They are making sure you get into the whole fantasy of the film by selling everything there is to sell. I'm not going to lie, some of the things look very cute. I can be a hopeless romantic sometimes. Who knows I might get something! I haven't read any of the books but have seen the movies. I like the story a lot, but I wouldn't put the movies (wrong actress) out there with Harry Potter or Lord of The Rings. Hope this movie will be better though, with better plot and better special effects.

No matter your household budget, you can spruce up your space with expert ideas from New York City–based diseñadora Nina Isabella, founder of Nina Interiors & Styling.

Sala Sensual
Think rich texturas. Layer them on thick throughout the room, says Isabella, creating an abundancia of beg-to-be-touched telas. “Pillows, throws, window treatments and rugs -- they’ll all warm the space at relatively little expense,” says Isabella, who shops at IKEA for low-cost cool rugs. Next, change up el arte. “Use a different theme or color palette as a foundation,” says Isabella, adding that she routinely scours Etsy for eye-catching one-of-a-kind artwork at reasonable prices.

Add inspiration-on-demand by stacking splashy revistas and libros on chairs in corners and on floors, keeping an eye on how the binding colors combine. “We have no fewer than six piles of each around our home at any given time,” says Isabella. “Nothing says ‘lazy day’ more than reading material at the ready.” Lastly, infuse the room with intoxicating fragrancia. Make a ritual of lighting a candle or diffuser whenever you enter.

Never underestimate the power of el efecto visual. “Add tabletop lamps and mirrors to add warmth -- without relying on predictable and harsh overhead lighting.” Display pottery to brighten and add character; check out Cabelas.com for such finds. Keep it simple. “It should feel uncluttered,” says Isabella. “Relaxed and romantic.” Remove any desk or television and reserve the space for relajación. “You should be able to fully detach from work there,” says Isabella. Next, splatter on fresh paint. “I’m into darker hues for bedrooms. People tend to go lighter -- it’s safe, uplifting. But darker shades bring coziness, which is what we want in our bedrooms.” Use bright, energizing colores in cocinas, and reserve darker cafés de cocoa for bedrooms.

Pregnancy cravings are no joke. But try being a pregnant Latina foodie. That’s what 27-year-old Venezolana-Italiana Melissa Berthier experienced last year. Since her Mexican-Lebanese esposo, Alfonso, no longer was an executive at Mexicana airlines who could lavish her with dulces from Latin America, what could a food-obsessed couple do to satisfy mami-to-be’s authentic cravings?

It took about nine months, but on the same day their daughter Sabrina was born, another entity was birthed: Mister Gallo, the mascot for LatinBag.com, the new parents’ e-commerce site that would launch a few weeks later in October 2010. The Berthiers had tapped into a nostalgia market for authentic comidas Latinas. So, they now offer to bag the groceries from your homeland for you, with customers as far away as South Korea and Australia.

The Bethesda, Md., couple balances fulfilling orders daily between day jobs: Melissa works for Metro in Washington, D.C., and Alfonso owns a distribution company. LatinBag is a work in progress -- from shipping and tracking, to storage and inventory. Now raising a growing toddler, Melissa concedes, “There is no such thing as spare time.” But her job provides stability and health insurance, as they’d like to have another child. Eventually, however, they’d like to devote themselves full-time to LatinBag and expand their inventory. “I’d love to sell authentic Oaxaca cheese,” says Melissa. “But it’s a matter of storing it properly.” So for now, LatinBag stocks an assortment of dry and canned goods, as well as pan dulce, café, candy, spices and more goodies to satisfy those cravings -- whether you’re pregnant or not.

As I get older I have found that I need to use my glasses more often. It wasn't until four years ago that I had to start using glasses, which is about the time they say you start having problems with farsightedness. Lately, I have noticed that even when I'm wearing my glasses I still can't read some things because the font is too small. Which means is time for me to get a new pair of glasses. Something I have been trying to put off because my kids also need theirs, and of course they are more important to me. 

My insurance covers the eye exam plus regular lenses but not the polycarbonate. Multiply that by two, equals a huge bill. I could get the eyeglasses without the poly, but you know how kids are. They tend to misplace things. Next thing you know they sat, or worse stepped on them. Been there more than once! 

I have been looking at some sites for eyeglasses frames that are sturdy, inexpensive and nice looking. The inexpensive part being the most important. I don't want to have to go penniless for a month or two. My glasses don't have to be flashy because I'm not going to wear them all day. They just have to look nice on me!

I'm the type of person that researches a purchase for hours if not days. With this economy I have to be certain that I'm getting a good deal. I checked at least five sites for deals on prescription glasses. The prices in some of them were ridiculous. I don't know about you but no way I'm going to spend $300 on a pair of glasses. I can buy at least four pairs with that kind of money!

Where Did My Holiday Spirit Go?

I feel like scrooge these days. I have been trying to get into the Holidays spirit, but I have been feeling blah. The weather being so warm doesn't help either! There are no decorations up or presents. Bills needed to be paid and I figure we can always buy some things after Christmas at a cheaper price. I still feel shitty about it though. No way around that one.

I threw away our Christmas tree 2 years ago and never replaced it. To make up for it and to try to change my mood, I'm getting a few things from the 99¢ store today. They have some cute things at a price we can afford. After all, it's going to be used once a year so I won't feel guilty about the price. I'll probably post some pictures.

Have to do the grocery shopping also. We are having our traditional Puerto Rican dinner. Same as the Thanksgiving dinner, but instead of brownies I'm baking a cake. It's called Gooey Butter Cake (original recipe). This is the first time I hear about it (don't judge me, I was raised in PR & I don't go out much). I saw the recipe at the Tasty Kitchen Blog (step by step w/pictures). It looks delish so I'm giving it a try. However, since I'm not into baking much I'm going with the original recipe by using a plain box of yellow cake mix. Wish me luck! Depending on how it looks I'll post pictures. I don't want to embarrass myself! 

Now, let me get going before I change my mind about going outside. My stamina doesn't last long. La vejez/old age, nena. A bit of music might be in order to get me going, coño!
