Blank, Nada...

Feels like I haven't blogged for about a month, but it has been five days only! I have been busy with life plus I haven't been in the mood to blog lately. We all have been through the I need a break from the internet days. I'm sitting here listening to music trying to get some inspiration, but nada. Like they say, I have to recharge my batteries.

I guess I have too many worries to think about anything else. Even my dreams have been weird. From natural disasters to me going back to school and getting picked on by some bitches. The one about the natural disaster, I was trying to look for the kids (they were still small), but couldn't because the area was full of water. I kept waking up trying to get rid of the dream but once I fell asleep again the dream would continue, lol. I was like that for about an hour until I couldn't take it anymore and got up. I was pissed! Has this ever happened to you?

Anyway, here are my Photo A Day June photos. This challenge is from Fat Mum Slim's Blog. If you want to join check out her blog. She already posted the list for July. You can share your photos on Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Instagram, Pinterest or your blog. Follow her on Twitter @FatMumSlim.

Bullying - Something Has To Change.

Karen Klein (bullied bus monitor) and Max Sido...

By now you all probably have seen the youtube videos with the bus monitor elderly woman Karen Klein, who was harassed by kids on the bus while on a trip. There are three videos, a total of fourteen minutes. I personally couldn't finish watching it. It was too upsetting! The level of disrespect, I mean one thing is to back talk another is to taunt and bully an elderly person. Even after she was crying they continued to bully her. It makes so angry when I think about it. I'm sure that some of what I'm feeling is because I have been treated that way (so has my son) as an adult myself by other adults, teens and children as well. I know too well how it feels.

If I was one of the parents of those children/teens I would force them to do volunteer work with elderly people for the whole summer. Monitoring them constantly so they won't treat them the same way. That way they will learn how to treat people with respect. No cell phones or internet for the whole summer either. It is a shame that she was being treated that way and no one else on the bus came to speak up for her. I understand that the bus driver has to pay attention to the road, but he or she had to have heard what was going on. Then again, like we say things happen for a reason. Maybe this was meant to happen as an eye opener for the rest of the world. At how bad things has gotten. How bad bullying has become and how us, as parents need to teach our kids that no type of bullying is ever OK. Something must be done about this. Laws must be put in place so things like this stop happening. That not even for the sake of a few laughs it is OK to bully someone.

Thankfully for Karen Klein, with the power of the internet and a good Samaritan, she will be able to take a well deserved vacation and can retire if she wants to. According to Gothamist so far people have donated 628,800! I'm so happy for her. Her daughter mentioned on an interview that she doesn't think her mom is going to return to her job. And I hope she doesn't, so she can enjoy the rest of her life with her family without having to worry if she's ever going to be treated that way again.

From the Gothamist: As for her tormentors, the 68-year-old Klein previously said she didn't buy their apologies—but this morning, she sounded a bit more forgiving on CBS This Morning: Saturday: "I'm glad they had to do it," she said. "I think—they're a little short. I guess I'll have to accept them. Because probably, this is as good as it's gonna get, if you know what I mean."
Asked about the sincerity of the apologies, she reasoned: "How sincere is a 13-year-old after they've done what they've done? I don't know. I hope they're sincere. I hope they have learned a lesson. And I hope they can go on with their life as a nicer person."

Below is one of the videos that were posted on youtube and her interview with Matt Lauer. You can read about her story at People.com.

Finally Gave In!

Netflix New Releases
Netflix New Releases
Last night I was watching Netflix with my son, we were watching Ancient Aliens. I was searching for something to watch with him but Netfllix doesn't have much that he likes these days. Finally, I decide on Ancient Aliens. At first he didn't wanted to watch it, but then he stopped complaining. After an hour or so he fell asleep and so did I. Not that the show sucks, it's very interesting. I wanted to keep watching it when I woke up, but I want to save it to keep watching with my son. I started watching Drop Dead Diva, I love this show! Too bad I don't have the channel, but for now I still have two and half seasons to watch. I thought it was canceled, but I checked online and it doesn't say that it was!

After, I started looking through the movies to add to my queue but most of the movies are old and I don't always want to watch TV shows. So I went online to check what new movies are out on DVD. Turns out, I'm missing so many good movies I decided to rent again. Even if it is for this month. I couldn't help it! For tomorrow we are getting The Darkest Hour and Chronicle. There is a short wait on Chronicle so if we don't get that one we'll get John Carter. I'm obsessed with Sci-fi these days. From zombies, to demons, to aliens! Anyone else decided to rent now that summer is here?

While I was adding movies to my queue I noticed the picture below, lol. Someone didn't read the tittle well. They put the wrong cover for the movie Batman Forever. I checked and it is still there. Netflix Fail!

Life, Photo A Day June & Movies.

I can't believe is already the middle of June! Not that I'm complaining that time is going by fast, if I could hibernate until fall I would, lol. I'm sure if I lived somewhere else I wouldn't hate summer as much, but I don't so estoy jodida. Although I noticed that since the jerks who sit in front of the building got shot at during the memorial weekend they don't sit in front as often anymore. Yes, you heard that right. I was trying to enjoy myself on the Saturday of that weekend, watching a movie. My son was on the computer and my daughter was on her way here when we heard the noise. I thought it was firecrackers, but then I heard all of them running inside, that's when I knew it was something else.

The police shows up, turns out someone from the building on the corner from across shot at them at least five times and one the bullets hit one girl on the leg. She was also sitting outside in front. My daughter called me three minutes after it happened, she was two blocks away at the bodega. I told her to wait a bit before coming home. She finally came home and on her way here another girl told her what happened. Of course they were still standing outside gossiping about it at least two hours after it happened. I knew something like that was going to happen and I even told the cops last year. One of those bullets could have ended up inside my living room as they were sitting right outside my windows or the girl who got hit could have been my daughter. I try not to think about it and hope that God will protect me and mis hijios.

I have been watching movies on Netflix lately since there is not much on TV these days or at least not anything worth watching. Last night I finished watching The Walking Dead season one with my daughter. It was better the second time around! Rick so rocks my world! That man exudes macho, lol. My daughter was disappointed they only made six episodes, but she's definitely a fan. After that, I started watching The Last Exorcism by myself, but again my daughter got curious and ended up watching it with me, lol. Let me tell you, the movie wasn't that great, but it keeps you guessing. You don't know what the fuck is going to happen next! It was entertaining that's for sure. My daughter ended up sleeping in the living room because she was scared even though she decided to finish watching The Last Airbender to get the other movie out of her mind. The Last Airbender, I tried watching it, but it is so bad I can't enjoy the movie. Bad acting and bad script. Am I the only one who feels that way about this movie?

Here are my photos for the Photo A Day June challenge. I'm up to date so far, yay me! This challenge is from Fat Mum Slim. If you want to join, check out her blog. You can share via Facebook, Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram, Flickr or your blog.

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!♥♥

June Monthly Preguntas!

PhotobucketIt's time for the monthly questions from Lisa. This is a nice way to share a bit of ourselves and get to know one another. If you would like to join the fun visit the From One Country To Another Blog.

1. So because we have recently gotten engaged I was wondering how all your hubby's popped the big question?

First, congrats to Lisa on her engagement! I'm not married anymore but this is how it happened. We were both living in Puerto Rico when we tried to elope because my grandmother didn't wanted us to keep seeing each other. However, my aunt ended up picking me up at his house a few hours later, after my mother had spoken to both of us over the phone. I ended up moving to NY after that and before I left Puerto Rico he told me we will get married when I get there. So that was it...

2. What Jewelery do you wear daily?

A small stud cross earring. I've had it for ages and I never take it off. When I go out I wear three silver rings and a pair of earrings. I need to buy some jewelry!

3. Have you ever been told you talk in your sleep?

Yes! I talk, laugh, chew and scream, lol. Yes, I have woken up chewing air because I was dreaming about food!

4. What are 3 websites you visit daily?

Plurk, Twitter, AOL

5. Are you allergic to anything?

Read this again and I decided to change it because I am allergic to certain things. When I first read the question I thought about a deadly allergic reaction kind of thing. I am allergic to cats (yes, I have one!), certain scents (vanilla gives me a huge headache), dust, pollen & mold. I love going to Bed Bath & Beyond, but I can't stay long because I start sneezing like crazy and my eyes get super itchy because all the scented candles, etc.

6. Have you ever had the chicken pox?

Yes, but I really don't remember when. I do remember my cousin being sick with it and I was putting Caladryl on her.

7. Last book you read?

A Sudden Change of Heart by Barbara Taylor Bradford

8.  4 of your Favorite Alcoholic drinks.

I don't drink so I don't have that many favorites, lol. One I liked a lot when I was in Puerto Rico was 43 mixed with milk. Yum!

9. What color is your bedroom wall painted?

Champagne.

10.Finish the sentence...

I'm hungry for...... Cinnabons
I'm wearing...... nightgown and short socks
I'm sad when..... when I read the news from around where I live.
I feel like.... I wish it was Fall already. Can't wait for cooler temperatures.

Who's Tommy Torres?

I'm a little bit embarrassed to say that until today, I didn't know who Tommy Torres was. Tommy started out as composer and producer in the late 90's. Since then, he has released a three albums and has written hits songs for artists like Ricky Martin, Ednita Nazario and Paulina Rubio, to name a few.  He has also received numerous awards, including Grammy awards and Billboard.

This is his new single, Querido Tommy. Querido Tommy is a song about a guy who is in love with a girl but he doesn't know how to express how he feels. He writes a letter to Tommy Torres asking him to help him find the right words to tell her how he feels. Well, I don't want to spoil it for you, just check out the video below. Such a great song and video, I am definitely adding him to my music list.

So, who's Tommy Torres? He is a multi-talented artist, extremely hot looking and he is from Puerto Rico. As a Boricua, this fills me with tremendous pride!

Tommy will be doing a Twitcam tomorrow, June 12 at 8pm ET #QueridoTommy You can follow him through his webpageFacebook page, Twitter (@Tommy_Torres) and subscribe to his youtube channel.

Photo A Day June Challenge - Day 10

I'm late with this, but I was busy all day doing laundry, etc. I got this Photo A Day for June from New York Chica's blog. These are fun, so once again I'm joining. This photo a day is from Fat Mum Slim. First time visiting her blog, I am glad I did. I love her writing style. You can follow her on Twitter @FatMumSlim. To participate, share your photos on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Flickr, Pinterest or on your blog. Make sure you add the hashtag #photoadayjune when you share them. I still might do the other one that I found through Mami Dearest just because.

I'm starting this challenge with Day 10, the best bit of your weekend. We stayed in all weekend (my son and I) since I'm getting over a cold that wouldn't go away (had it for over a week) and I still have a sore throat. Well, that and there is no money to spend right now. Saturday, I spent it watching creepy movies and TV shows with my daughter until very late. I started watching Don't be Afraid of the Dark by myself, but my daughter got curious and ended up watching it with me. We gave it 4 stars out 5. We liked it a lot. The girl in this movie, Bailee Madison is another actress that has a great future ahead of her just like Dakota Fanning. This little little girl can act! Also in the movie, Katie Holmes. It was a treat to see her.

Then we saw Quarantine 2, even though we didn't see the first one. I've been waiting for Netflix to stream the first part, but got tired of waiting. We gave it 4 out of 5 stars, it was entertaining, believable and nerve wrecking! We jumped a few times, lol.

Then my daughter asked if The Walking Dead was streaming. She wanted to see because all her friends have been talking about it. Luckily, Netflix still has it streaming! I thought I had seen all the episodes from Season 1, but last night I noticed I missed at least two, so it was good that I decided to see it again. We are up to episode 5. I'm dying for Netflix to finally stream the second season. I saw almost all the episodes online, I haven't seen the last two. Can't wait! I read somewhere we have to wait until August or September for the second season to stream on Netflix. That's just cruel if you ask me!Photobucket

The photo of the pollo en escabeche, that was our dinner for Saturday and Sunday. I got that recipe from Cuponeando a few months back and it has become one of our favorites! In case you want to try it follow this link to Cuponeando...

Google Chrome Extension - Hover Zoom

I have been using Google Chrome browser for years now. I have tried others, but I always come back to this one because of the cool extensions and it's a fast browser. Problem is, when I have too many extensions it tends to suck the memory out of my computer (it's an old one). The most I can have is 7 extensions plus have 5 tabs open. So when I found the hover zoom extension, I was more than happy! I had 2 extensions to zoom pictures, one for Facebook/Twitter and another one for Google+. This one does the job of both.

As you can see in the picture below, all you have to do is place the mouse on top of the image and it will open in a bigger size. It even works on youtube. Which I love, because sometimes I don't want to open the video to see the design of the nails, etc. This saves me so much time.Photobucket

I'm not being compensated for blogging about this, I just thought it was a cool extension and wanted to share it. It has worked for me so far. However, make sure you read the details, what it can access and the reviews before you install it. I don't want to receive any comments blaming me if you start having problems with your computer.Photobucket

From their site: Enlarge thumbnails on mouse over. Works on many sites (Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Reddit, Amazon, Tumblr, etc).

If You Still Care - Summer TV Calendar

PhotobucketAfter all the cancellations (seven or eight in total!) of TV shows I was watching. I'm not sure if I even want to pick up more shows. We take the time to watch it, record it, tweet it, check it in getglue and we even post about it in our blogs. And for what? In the end, we (the fans) are the last ones the networks think about when they decide to cancel a show. Yes, I'm one of those!

Personally, if I was an actor this would piss me off. Networks should be forced to give a show at least two seasons before talking about cancellation. All the hard work they (actors and crew) put in, moving to other cities (sometimes with their families in tow), waking up early and going to bed late for months. Ridiculous!

I have stopped watching some shows because of this, but that's another post. In case you are still interested in adding more shows to your list or finding out when the old ones you watch are coming back, here is the summer TV calendar. I only have the basic channels, so for summer there is not much that is worth watching. More stupid so call (even though they are not) reality shows, they keep popping up everywhere. Meanwhile the good shows get canceled.Photobucket

Adele - Turning Tables (Live at The Royal Albert Hall)

I set up my DVR to record this concert but it ran out of space at 26 minutes, argghhh! I'll watch it tomorrow. In case you are a fan and you missed it, here is one of the songs she performed. It has to be awesome to hear her sing in person. Like we say in Puerto Rico, como Adele no hay ninguna! I can hear her sing for hours...♥♥

What's Been Going On.

PhotobucketBeen trying to blog for the past week but always something gets in the way. For instance, by Wednesday I had a full blown cold or so I thought. Friday, I woke up feeling like I was carrying a bus on top of my head. Couldn't go out at all. Feeling a bit better today, so far. The next thing will be dealing with the coughing, I bought a bag of Halls, I am prepared!Photobucket

My weekend has been peaceful so far and I am so grateful about that! It was almost spoiled by a leak from upstairs. Yes, another one. Thank God my daughter noticed it right away. It was in the kitchen next to my microwave. The new one I just bought not too long ago! I sent my daughter upstairs to let her know, her answer, it was an accident. I understand it was an accident, but how many fucking accidents can you have? This is the third time this happens in the kitchen. If you leave your water running make sure nothing is going to clog the sink. Keep in mind that you have children, that they can come and clog the sink without you noticing. I let it go, didn't call the super because she caught it on time and I hate having to talk to that asshole. Next time, I'm not so sure...

I said on this post, that I had gone to the doctor to do blood work, etc. Well, I got the results and as I suspected my thyroid is low. I was prescribed three meds. One for thyroids, cholesterol and for Diabetes. This is my first time taking the last two. I was also given a glucose testing meter. I have to check my sugar every day and if it is below 100, I don't have to take the pill. It was a bit scary and overwhelming listening to the doctor telling me all of this. However, I now know where all the symptoms I have been having come from. I'm changing my diet little by little. I'm now cooking more with olive oil and once I run out of vegetable oil, I'm switching to canola oil. Baby steps.

Also, remember when I said I had gone cold turkey and stopped taking my antidepressants last year. Since then, I have lost close to 20 pounds and although it is not a huge amount of weight to some, to me it is. I started seeing a therapist again, but I'm not taking any antidepressants. It has been a month so far, and it has helped a lot. Not only me, my whole family. We see her as a family, but sometimes I go alone. I still get anxiety, but in other aspects I'm feeling a bit better. My self-esteem has gone up an inch.Photobucket

Well, there you have it, that is some of what's been going on in my life. I hope everyone is enjoying the few hours hours of the weekend we have left, that's depending where you are of course.♥♥
