Dinero, Pink Eye & Friday Fill - Ins.

Paris Night

Well, I had hoped to be writing this post from somewhere in Paris after winning some of the Power Ball millions. I was already packing up my things, mentally. Instead, I got pink eye!Photobucket

This was my first time playing Power Ball. I normally play mega millions or Win for life every now and then. It can get expensive to play every week though. Lucky those who won some of those millions, coño! Para la próxima vez.

My eye is hurting and it still red, but not as bad as yesterday. Yesterday, I couldn't open my eye. Had to take a nap for the pain to go away. I was starting to get a little worried since the ophthalmologist sent me for some eye exams because of my diabetes. Thankfully it seems to be getting better.

I have some errands to do today. I don't want to have to go tomorrow. The supermarket gets full on Saturdays. I like to take my time, but I hate bumping into people. Having someone give you the evil eye even after you apologize. So when it's full, I want to finish as soon as possible and I end up forgetting things. Usually, the thing I needed the most.

I noticed that there is no entries on the Mary Kay giveaway yet. You have until December 7 at 12am est. to enter. They are great lip glosses with festive colors! To give as a present to a woman of any age. Feel free to ask me any questions about the product.

Now on today's meme, Friday Fill-Ins. If you would like to participate follow the link. Enjoy your weekend, mi gente!

1. Why is it that best TV shows get canceled? Like #666ParkAvenue, Flash Forward, Fringe, The Sarah Connor Chronicles, The Event, etc.
2. Where is the snow, that's what I want to know!
3. Hold on let me see that again.
4. We will be there soon.
5. Do you know when they are going to be back.
6. I live, to laugh, and love.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to a movie on Netflix, tomorrow my plans include cleaning and cooking dinner and Sunday, I want to relax and watch 666 Park Avenue!

Dinner Turned Out Delish!

Our Thanksgiving day was spoiled by the inconsiderate assholes downstairs playing music like they were at a club. However, our dinner turned out delish! Well, except the guineos en escabeche/pickled green bananas. I mentioned on my Thanksgiving day post that I thought three cups of oil was too much, and sure enough, it was. I saved enough for me (kids wanted potato salad only), the rest I had to throw away. Next time, I'll use a cup and half of oil only. Other than that, dinner was delicious. I will be making the last of the pernil today. Another day of not having to cook a whole meal! Yay, ME!

I bought the ingredients for the pumpkin pie, but in the end I decided to make these baby cinnamon buns recipe I found on Facebook. The dough was on sale, so I was even more happy to make them, lol. I was lucky they had Pillsbury Recipe Creations. That one doesn't have seams. OMG, they turned out so delicious! Gooey and chewy, yum. Even my daughter asked for seconds. I will be making these again. I know I'm not supposed to be eating this, but I have been good with staying away from sweets. One can indulge every now and then, right? Be very careful though, they are addicting!

Enjoy your Sunday!

PS. I have a great Mary Kay NouriShine Plus Lip Gloss giveaway with no entries yet. Check it out, pretty please. I don't want to have to cancel it due to no entries.Photobucket

Happy Thanksgiving - Feliz Día De Acción De Gracias!

Is it me or November is going by too fast? It wasn't until last week that I realized Thanksgiving was a few days away. ¿Que, qué? The holidays are going by too fast. I don't do big celebrations anymore, but I still enjoy the holidays. The Christmas lights, although most people don't put decorations on their windows anymore. At least where I live, can't say for other areas. I enjoy the chill and the smell in the air when you first walk outside. Just something about it, I love it!

My pernil is in the oven, my apartment smells delicious. Garlicky. Last night I made guineitos en escabeche for the first time. I noticed that the recipe I used says three cups of oil, but I found that to be too much oil. Most recipes only use one cup. I hope they turn out good. Crossing my fingers!

While I was looking for some recipes, I found an easy pumpkin pie recipe that I'm also going try for the first time. My son (and so do I!) loves pumpkin pie (actually pumpkin and cinnamon anything). I got tired of spending $6.99 for a pie, and I buy two of them. It's a bit much for our budget.

I have very little counter space (a square to be precise) and limited kitchen utensils, so recipes have to be easy to make. I check different versions of one recipe to see which one it's easier. Then I add whatever I like from one recipe to another to make it my own, lol. Let's hope everything comes out delish. If not, oh well. Mis hijos are not that picky.

I hope everyone is enjoying their day with their families and friends. In my case is just the kids, me and our cat, but I feel blessed that we have food to eat and a roof over our heads. Lots of people don't. My prayers to those affected by hurricane Sandy. May God give you strength and that you are surrounded by caring people..♥

I'm tired, so I'm going to take a nap. That's the beauty of not having anyone coming over. There is no rush. Happy Thanksgiving, mi gente! Stay safe y no coman mucho que engordan, he, he.♥

PS. Check out the Mary Kay giveaway I just posted today and spread the word!

Mary Kay NouriShine Plus Lip Gloss Review & Giveaway!

A few weeks ago I received a fabulous gift pack from Mary Kay with five colorful Mary Kay® NouriShine Plus Lip Glosses to review. The pack included the shades Mango Tango, Rock 'n' Red, Cafe Au Lait, Cream & Sugar and Pink Parfait. All beautiful shades, but my favorites are Rock 'n' Red and Cafe Au Lait. I have to say that due to my oily skin I tend not to use lip glosses a lot. They tend to be too sheer and they don't seem to last long on my lips. However, I was pleasantly surprised with these lip glosses. They have the right amount of color and they lasted more than a few hours on me. They didn't feel sticky on my lips and have a hint of vanilla that gives it a great smell.

You can either apply it once for a hint of color or twice for a more vibrant color that will make your lips pop. You can also use them with the Mary Kay's lip liners if you like your lips to look more defined. These lip glosses come in 14 shades that are great for any skin type/tones. Some colors have some shimmer. Of the five I received, Mango Tango and Cream & Sugar have shimmer. The retail price is $14. These lip glosses key ingredients are Vitamin E, Vitamin C, Aloe Leaf Extract and a Pomegranate Sterol to help strengthen skin, reduce appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, smooth lips and help soften and calm the skin. Not only will you have fabulous looking lips, but they will feel soft and smell delicious.

They are a good size, not too big or too small. They will fit in the smallest of purses or your jean pocket for when you don't want to fuss around with a purse, but still want to be able to touch up your lips!

One lucky reader will win a gift pack of five Mary Kay NouriShine Plus Lip Glosses with the shades you see here! Buena Suerte!

President Obama Meets Parents Of Boys Lost During Sandy.

Pete Souza/The White House

If you remember I posted about the parents who lost their boys during hurricane Sandy. How difficult it must be for them to have lost their two sons in one day. During his visit to New York City yesterday, President Obama met privately with the parents of the boys. In the video below he praised police officer lieutenant Kevin Gallagher who helped the Moore family with the search for the boys and stayed with them until their bodies were found. If you rather not see the whole video, you can forward it to 5:30.

I hope it gives them some comfort to know a lot of people are praying for them. For God to give them strength during this difficult time...♥

More Prayers, Life & Happy Veterans Day

I hope everyone enjoyed Veterans Day. Remembering those who have fought for the freedom of this country. Many hugs to those who have lost someone protecting this country so that we can enjoy the freedom we sometimes take for granted.♥♥

I haven't posted in a week, but it seems like it has been longer. I have been in a blah mood lately, add to that a toothache (scared of the dentist. yes, I admit it!) and allergies. Not fun. When I'm doing other things I think about blog posts, but once I sit here my mind goes blank. Anyone has blogging magic dust out there?

Sending prayers to those affected by hurricane Sandy and still dealing with the power outages and clean up. The story about the mother who lost her two boys while trying to get away from the flood, breaks my heart. I hope she's surrounded by family and friends to help her get through the heartbreak. Losing one child is devastating, but losing two is even worse. According to the article I read she was knocking in people's doors  asking for help, but no one helped her. When they found her she was suffering from hypothermia. I think it's sad no one tried to help her. Even if they couldn't go out to help her look for her children, at least they could have offered her some comfort, coño. Their bodies were found and they were able to give them a proper burial. My prayers to her and her family. May God give her the strength to deal with the huge loss.

My daughter's friend had no electricity for almost a week. Daughter stayed over last weekend to help them out. They all slept in the living room using a small heater to stay warm. The heat and hot water was back on four days later. Her dad is back home after her had to be taken to the hospital where they kept him for a week or so. Thankfully, things are back to normal for them.

I have two reviews and giveaways coming up from Mary Kay and Dermagist. Stay tuned! Photobucket

Prayers & Halloween

I meant to post this early, but started doing other things and forgot I hadn't published it. First, my prayers to those affected by hurricane Sandy. Our area wasn't hit hard, and I thank God for that. The tree in front of some of our windows hit the fire escape a couple of times, and the lights flickered a few times, but other than that not much happened. If it wasn't for me looking out of the window I wouldn't have known that it was raining.

One of my daughter's friend lives in the city, in an area where the power is still out. She haven't heard from her since last night after her cell phone ran out of battery. Tomorrow she's going to try to go check up on them. Her father is not well, so I'm praying they are doing ok.

Stay safe, mi gente. Don't put yourself or someone else in harm's way for the sake of taking a picture or a video. I heard this last night on the radio. A crew member called a radio station to give updates when a man walks over to a live wire with his children just so he could take pictures. He had to tell him to move away because that was a live wire. Scary.

I know that because of hurricane Sandy some of you felt bad celebrating Halloween while others are going through a rough time. Still, Halloween is a day kids look forward to every year, so I hope your kiddies got to enjoy Halloween even if it was a little bit. I heard some kids trick or treating around here, but it wasn't a big crowd. I've enjoyed the photos I've seen around. It brings back good memories.Photobucket

We didn't do anything especial today. Except I didn't have to cook dinner! My daughter wanted to get McDonald's because she wanted to check if her cell phone is working outside. It is, but for some reason is not working inside the apartment. It has been like that for a week now, before the storm. At this point she's going to exchange the cell phone. Four phone calls to customer service and the service still sucks.

Happy Halloween!
