Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day to everyone! Hugs to those with family and friends serving, keeping our country safe everyday. Prayers to those who have lost their lives protecting us, and many thanks to those who risk their lives protecting this country's freedom, for their sacrifice.♥♥

We didn't do anything special this weekend. We stayed in enjoying each other's company, watching movies and playing video games. I even played some Resident Evil 5, lol. Or at least tried! It's difficult for me to control the camera and move at the same time. I like the game, but I have to master moving both analog sticks, lol. Give me Tekken, now that I can handle!

Now, back to doing laundry, cleaning up, making dinner, doing my nails and getting ready for the week. Stay safe and enjoy what is left of the weekend...

More Pictures, Nueva York.

On my previous post, I mentioned I had taken more pictures, here are the rest. I don't go to the city to hang out that much so whenever we go, I like to take pictures. Who knows if we get attacked by zombies tomorrow. You never know!

Talking about zombies. Did you hear about the naked man who was killed because he wouldn't stop eating another man's face. So horrible, they did an update and the detectives believe the victim was a homeless man and the naked man was suffering from cocaine psychosis, which explains why he took off his clothes. Want to be clear, that I'm in no way making fun of it, I just thought about it because people commented on the article and they said the zombies are here. That is all!

Hope everyone is enjoying their long weekend. I know I am, I slept like a baby or close to it for the past two days. I needed it!

On Mother's Day.

I meant to write this post two weeks ago, but I have been busy with life, and my computer started acting up so I had to re-install windows twice. I kind of gave up on it for a day, lol. Right now it seems to be working fine, but every now and then reboots. Sucks to have an old computer!

Anyway, we went to the city on Mother's day. We walked around a bit then we went to Bryant Park. This was my first time going to that park. I thought it would be bigger so I was a bit disappointed, but it was nice. As you can see there were a lot of people but not to the point where you couldn't walk. There were a few families sitting on the grass area. No loud noises, just the birds, people talking and the occasional horn honking. My kind of place. I imagine at night it gets full.

We stayed there for about 4 hours, just enjoying the breeze. We took some pictures, as you can see below. Since we are on a budget (eating in the city is very expensive), we ended up eating at Burger King. That Burger King sucked! The people working there were nasty, then some pendeja came in to cut in on the line, so she got into an argument with a man. Forget it, it was a whole lot of drama! We wanted to eat at Wendy's but there weren't any sits available. We went to eat late so they had closed the second floor. Next time, we just won't eat!

I can't remember the last time I was around that area so there is bunch of things that were new to me. Like the sitting area around Macy's. My daughter took a picture, but it came out blurry because we were walking. You can see how the area looks like though. It looks like a nice place to sit around to eat lunch or dinner. Those stores around there must make a lot of money from all those people sitting there for hours! So many temptations, lol.

We had a nice time, after all. If only we had left home earlier, we could have avoided the Burger King drama. I have more pictures, I'll post them on my next post...

A Mother and Her Support System.

This is a Guest Post by Heather Von St James. Heather is a mesothelioma survivor, she's raising awareness for mesothelioma by sharing her inspirational story.

It takes a village to raise a child. I found how true that was when my only child, Lily, was born by C-section on August 4, 2005. She and I made it through delivery with flying colors, and a host of family and friends gathered around us with well wishes and congratulations. My husband and I could never have imagined the trials awaiting us in the coming year.

Shortly after I returned to work full time, I began feeling low on energy, breathless and exhausted. While most of these symptoms might be chalked up to the stress of being a new mother, something seemed wrong, so I made a visit to my doctor. Tests were run, and on November 21, I received the diagnosis: malignant pleural mesothelioma.

This cancer in the lining of my left lung mostly likely resulted from asbestos exposure in my youth. Now, 30 years later, I face a fight for my life through the trials of aggressive treatment for mesothelioma. Since the prognosis for mesothelioma patients is grim, my husband and I chose to fight as hard as possible against the disease.

That winter we left Lily with my parents in South Dakota and traveled to Boston. There I underwent treatment from one of the finest mesothelioma physicians in the world. On February 2, 2006, my left lung was removed, along with the lining and the cancerous tumor. For the next 18 days, I recovered in the hospital.

Meanwhile, Lily was growing and developing, hundreds of miles away. My mom sent regular emails with pictures of her eating her first baby food, scooting around and other cute things. My husband would print these photos on a community printer and bring them to my room. There my nurses would surround me and ooh and ah over Lily’s developmental progress. They were a part of my village in Boston.

In South Dakota, a village surrounded Lily to help her grow into a healthy toddler. Girls I had cared for when they were young took turns watching Lily while my parents worked. People from the church where I had grown up stepped in to help as well.

When my husband and I returned to Boston, I recovered at home for two months before beginning chemotherapy and then radiation treatments. As I grew stronger, I was able once again to care for Lily.

Our family has learned to truly appreciate life and all it has to offer. My favorite quote comes from the 1958 movie Auntie Mame “Life is a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death.” Despite the difficulties that came with my battle with cancer, I am thankful for the valuable lessons cancer has taught me.

Heather Von St James is a mesothelioma survivor and a guest blogger for the Mesothelioma Cancer Alliance. Her story is one of hope and inspiration and she hopes to spread her message to anyone who may be going through similar situations to her own.

If Only Mine Would Let Me Do This!

I saw this in another blog and had to share it. He looks so cute and fluffy! I just wish my cat would let me do this to him, lol. He hears the vacuum and runs like a bat out of hell! He doesn't come out until I turn it off.Photobucket

Update: The owner of the video I posted originally removed the video from youtube, so I'm replacing with another video of another cat getting vacuumed!

Small Yet Powerful - Lenovo Speakers M0520

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Lenovo for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

_38_0_57Y6361_V1.jpg (JPEG Image, 1000 × 1000 pixels).jpgAren't these cute? I love the color and the shape. These ultra portable Lenovo speaker system, may be small in size but not in sound. These small speakers will give you the high quality sound (4 watts of power) you are looking for without taking much space and the best part, you can take them anywhere you want. This is a speaker system that includes a main speaker with built in amplifiers and a sub-speaker. They power through a usb connection with energy saving function. The wire, no need to worry about that, it spools for easy storage. You can use them with your laptop, computer, smartphone or mp3/mp4 player. What more can you ask for?

I, for one would use these with my cell phone. I use my cell phone to listen to music a lot, but lets face it, cell phones don't have the best speakers. These speakers would be perfect! I can take them in the kitchen, the bathroom (I like to listen to music while I shower) or to go to the park. Just think, you are at the park with your family or friends. You have your laptop and you want to listen to music or watch a movie, but the speakers on the laptop are not that great. With these speakers you wouldn't have to worry about that. Anyone can use them, just plug them and play!

You are probably wondering about the price. Well, right now they are on sale for $11.99 from 5/15 to 5/21. Sign on for email offers and receive 10% off of this order. Great deal! You better act fast if you want to take advantage of this sale!

Happy Mother's Day/Feliz DĆa de las Madres!

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mamas out there! I hope your day is full of love, hugs and kisses. That you are treated like the Queen that you are! My daughter gave me a present this morning. Can you guess what it is? They look like candy but they are handmade soaps! The lady told my daughter what they are made out of, but she forgot. One of them is made with honey as you can see in the picture. They smell divine! They look so pretty, I don't want to use them, lol.

I commented on Facebook that I wasn't going to do anything special today, but my daughter asked me if we could go out. So we are going to the city, eat dinner (no cooking for me, yay!) somewhere and walk around. Maybe go to Central Park, love sitting there for hours. I'll be taking pictures that's for sure.

Enjoy your day, mi gente!

Been Busy With Life.

Sorry, I haven't been blogging that much lately. I have been busy with life. By the time I get home, all I want to do is sit down for the rest of the day but I can't because I have to get in the kitchen to cook dinner. Thank God mis hijos/my kids are not too picky when it comes to dinner!

I'm still in search of the fan that will satisfy my needs, lol. I'm laughing but I'm frustrated at this point. I purchased three and had to return them all! First I bought the Holmes Stand Fan (18 inches) for $39.99 + $17 for the protection plan. I returned it because even though it was big it didn't blow enough air and it was too quiet. Ok, I just realized this sounds a bit dirty!Photobucket

Anyway, then I bought the Honeywell Quiet Stand Fan (16 inches), it was on sale for $45 + $17 for the protection plan. I read the reviews, people said it was good but noisy. It was neither! Didn't blow enough air and it was quiet. At least too quiet for me. The first two I got them at Target. The third one I bought it at Best Buy. At this point I was willing to pay a little bit more. I bought the Honeywell Whole Room Air Circulator fan, I paid $39.99 but didn't get the protection plan. I overpaid for this one because they have it at Target for less. Problem is, they only sell it online. I had this fan (or so I thought) years back and it lasted for about two to three years. I get to Best Buy, I'm almost running because they had only two left. I was even thinking of buying two of them! The problem, it was the same fan but in a smaller size! I was so fucking pissed, lol. It blows good air but not enough for the price I paid and again it was too quiet.

So I still have no fan. Searched online at Sears, Kmart and Walmart. Found one at Sears, OceanAire High Velocity Floor Fan (20 inches) for $49.99. Have to pick it up all the way down in Queens but I don't care, I need a good noisy fan, coƱo. Hopefully this one will be IT! My daughter told me when I bought the last one, you better like this one because we are not going to exchange another fan! LOL I said ok, I went to return it with my son.Photobucket

Other than returning fans, I have been going to appointments and running errands. Had blood work done because I haven't done that since last year, actually I think it has been longer than that. My thyroid is probably out of balance. I get the results next week, wish I didn't have to wait that long. It's a bit nerve wrecking! Now to make a visit to the dentist (how I dread this visit!) and the ophthalmologist. My vision has gotten bad, can't barely read anything without my glasses anymore. La vejez/Old age!

Talking about old age, recently I noticed I have lots of gray hairs around my hairline, mainly on the sides! I'm feeling like Samantha from Sex in the City, when she found a gray hair on her crotch, lol! She bought hair dye to dye her pubic hairs, lol. I did the same thing! No, not for my crotch. LOL I bought two boxes of Lorea'l Feria Power Reds #R68. It is super red, but because my hair dark brown is going to look darker. I love that color, makes me feel sexy! Hopefully it will cover all my canas/gray hairs. I'll post a picture..

Bueno, there you have it. That's some of what I have been doing lately. Hope everyone is enjoying their night, evening, afternoon or morning!Photobucket

Feliz Cinco De Mayo!

I want to wish a Feliz DĆa de Cinco de Mayo to those who celebrate it! Through blogging, I have met a few cool bloggers (check out my blog list or my Facebook page to find their blogs) who's husbands are from Mexico or they are Mexican themselves. Have found some delish recipes reading some of their blogs. I am a big fan of Mexican food, although I don't get to eat it often. I'm talking about the authentic stuff. My son and I love chicken quesadillas (my daughter not so much), so since it is Cinco de Mayo I thought today would be a good day to have some for dinner. As a way to celebrate today and all the cool blogueras I have met. Happy Cinco de Mayo, Chicas!

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend.♥♥

Yo dije en este post que habĆa encontrado tutoriales de como hacer diseƱos para mis uƱas en YouTube. Que tenĆa que ordernar unas cosas. I said on this post that I had found tutorials on YouTube on how to do designs for my nails. That I had to order a few things. I finally ordered two plates from Konad to stamp my nails, but I won't get them until next week. I hate waiting, but I have no other option! Meanwhile, I decided to try a tutorial on how to do a gradient design. I think they came out pretty good for the first time, lol. There are many tutorials, check which one is easiest for you. I can't afford to do my nail at a beauty salon, so this way my nails look pretty without spending tons of money! My new obsession...

Shakira & Rihanna's Latest Music Videos!

These are the latest music videos from Shakira (Addicted To You) and Rihanna (Where Have You Been). I love both videos/songs! Great songs to dance to. Shakira is looking better than ever. Love how sexy she looks without looking slutty, if you know what I mean. The outfit with the polka dots blouse, love it! One of the lyrics, Quiero que te dejes querer. For some reason I find that lyric sexy as hell, lol. Am I  the only one who finds it sexy?

Rihanna's video is completely different. Great video as usual. She almost never disappoints with her videos. She changes looks a few times which is one of the things I like. The dancing is hot, I wish I could see it on TV to enjoy it fully. My pc graphics card sucks, so I can't see it in full HD. Oh, one thing I noticed, she lost some weight. She's looking a little bit too thin. I don't mean to criticize, but she's never been one to look really thin, so I was surprised...

Both videos ROCK!
