April's Photo Challenge & Life.

I have been trying to do monthly photo challenges ever since Mami Dearest introduced me to them, but I never end up finishing the month. So here I am joining one for this month (I know, I'm late again). Been busy lately so I forget to take pictures...

The weather has been too hot for the past 2 days. I had planned on not using the ac until June to save money on electricity, but last night I had to turn in on. It was too damn hot. I'm going to Target mañana to buy the fan I wanted to buy 3 weeks ago, but couldn't because Target didn't had them out yet. Thank God it looks like the temperatures are going down a bit starting tonight! No ac needed tonight, yay!

As some of you know, I said that I was going to start seeing my therapist again. Well, I have a question. I called her almost two weeks ago and left a message, but she hasn't called me back. Should I take that as in she doesn't want me as her patient anymore or she has been too busy to return my call? I had a bad experience with a shrink once, so now I tend to look for signs. I don't want to see someone that is not in it to truly try to help people. You know what I mean?

Anyway, I hope everyone is enjoying their week so far. Mine has been a positive one in some ways and I am so grateful for that. Praying that more good things keep coming my way...

Day 17 & Day 18 - March Photo Challenge

This is day 17 and day 18 of my March Photo Challenge. I'm two days behind though. My daughter takes the camera almost every time she goes out so it's hard for me to take pictures when I need to. Grrr. Tomorrow I might go out so I'm going to try to take pictures of all the themes coming up. People might look at me like I'm loca, but oh well. After all this is New York. Anything can happen, verdad que sí?

After not renting movies for about 5 months, I got tired of the same old movies Netflix has streaming. They really need to get more recent movies into their streaming service. You can say about 80% of their streaming service is indie movies and tv shows. The rest is old movies and about 1% of recent movies. The latest movie I watched streaming was The Lincoln Lawyer, great movie! I was so happy to see something recent streaming. They are adding Melancholia soon, can't wait! Love Kirsten Dunst.

Over the weekend we rented, Rise of the Planet of the Apes and Hugo. So far we have seen Rise of the Planet of the Apes, it was good! Just when I thought the  movie couldn't get any good it got better. Mis hijos didn't wanted to see it at first, especially my son but then after I kept showing him some parts he finally decided to see it. So I started the movie all over again for both of them. They loved it. Apart from the violence, it is a movie the whole family can watch. Wouldn't recommend it for little ones, but that's up the parents.

Day 17  - Work  Lasagña, a lot of work to make, but oh so good after it is done!

Day 18 - Looking Up  I can't remember if this was in Manhattan or Brooklyn.

Belated Spanish Friday - Desafío de Fotos de Marzo

This post is written in Spanish for Spanish Friday at Latinaish. The English version is below. You can also use the Google translator on the sidebar to translate the entire page in Spanish. If you would like to participate follow the Spanish Friday link.

I decided to participate in another photo challenge, this time for the month of March. I love taking photos, so I thought this is a good excuse to take more photos. Plus is fun to have to look for the themes they ask for! Some I have taken recently and some are older. If you would like to participate click on the photo below. I found this through my friend, the owner the Mami Dearest blog.

Where Is It?

PhotobucketTemperatures are getting warmer and I am so not ready for that. I need at least two more months! We were basically robbed of winter this year. I want my winter, damn it! We had no snow and the temperatures have been ridiculously warm. Mother nature hates me, it seems.Photobucket

I hope these warm temperatures mean is not going to be hot this summer. This is when I miss not having the weather channel the most. They talk about all that stuff. What to expect for the next three months, during the year and up the year 2015. Joking! Well, sort of. At least we will save money if this summer turns out to be a cool one. Lets hope so!

I'm catching up with the February Photo Challenge. Both photos were taken in the city a few years back. First one was taken from Central Park and the second one was at the City Hall Park.

Happy Thursday, mi gente!

What Helps Me Sleep.

I said in one of my previous post that I was going to share an app with nature sounds that I use to sleep. I live on the first floor towards the front of the building. So you can hear every noise you can imagine. The train station is 3 minutes away from here so there are always people passing by at all times of the day. In addition to the people who are always in the street jodiendo until late at night. The app is called Lightning Bug. It's Free and it brings a start up pack with three ambience. You can add six more packs for free. Each pack brings five to six different ambience sounds! If you want to add more packs, they cost from .99¢ to $1.99. I downloaded the free ones and I purchased the forest  pack. Worth the money!

Here is a video I made to show how it works. My cell phone can be a bit slow, sorry about that. If you decide to download it make sure you read the comments first so you know what type of problems other people have had with their cell phones. I, so far haven't had any problems, besides the force close every now and then. That is due to my phone not having a lot space since Metro PCS decided they were going to fill the cell phone's internal memory with junk that can't be removed. However, you can save this app to the SD card, thank God. Wish all the apps were like that!

Anyway, you are probably wondering what the photo below has to do with this post. That's a photo for a photo challenge I'm doing this month. Day 18 is looking down. This picture was taken at Central Park a few years back. What a beautiful day it was!

My Handwriting, A Memory & Music.

I have been slacking off on the February Photo Challenge I joined not too long ago. Have been busy finishing up with my messy living room and bedroom. Throwing out stuff and shredding tons of papers. I still have a laundry basket and a big drawer full of papers, ugh. One tend to accumulate so much junk as we get viejos/old. I took a break today to catch up with things. Plus my allergies are driving me loca!

I missed six days of the photo challenge so I'm posting the last three days. Day 15 is handwriting. I love pens, notepads, post its, almost any office supply. With computers these days we don't use pen and paper often. I do appointments and reminders the old fashion way. It takes too long to get to your information when you keep it in your computer and you need it right away.

Day 16 is a memory. I have so many good memories from going to Times Square. Since I was a kid, the place to go when you didn't have anything to do was Times Square. Just to walk around, take photos, have dinner and sit somewhere for hours. Until 4AM. When my kids were small I would go to Times Square with my family or friends. My son in a stroller and my daughter with a child safety hand strap. They were so good, no complains or misbehaving. Good memories.

Day 17 (today) is music. I don't own an iPod so my phone is what I use to listen to music. I have it with me at all times. Can't take a shower without it! I even use it when I sleep. I have an app that plays nature sounds. I leave it on all night to muffle the outside noise. That app is a life saver! I'll share it on my next post...

February Photo Challenge.

I saw this February Photo Challenge at Mami Dearest's blog and decided to give it a try. I wasn't invited to the group, but I invited myself. I hope is not against the rules or anything. I read the about of the group but it doesn't say anything about having to be invited to join. Seems like a fun challenge so why not. I'm late, so I'm posting the photos for February 8, 9 and 10. I'm not a photographer but I like to take photos. We recently bought a new digital camera that I haven't really used. This will give me an excuse!
