Snow + Netflix = Relaxation!

And just like that, it is over! We didn't get that much snow as you can see by the pictures. I took these from my window, the first two was around 4AM, the third one was around 6AM. I don't know around other areas, but around here it didn't look like a blizzard at all. From the news, I expected something like the blizzard we had in 1996! For that one, the mountains of snow were taller than me. Good times!

It looked pretty though and it was so peaceful. Like we say in Puerto Rico, no había ni un alma en la calle/there was not a soul on the street. Then the snow plow truck passed by and the beauty disappeared.

Oh well, until next winter! Yes, I'm already thinking about next winter. Me no like hot weather!

We started renting movies from Netflix again. There are so many movies that we have to catch up with. We rented The Hunger Games and The Dark Knight Rises. We have been streaming for over a year, but as you know they don't always stream the popular ones. We are going to be snuggling, relaxing and enjoying our snowy weekend watching two good movies. I also have to empty my DVR, it is 100% full.

Talking about TV, I am loving Netflix's House of Cards. I'm up to episode 8, so so good. That's the movies envelope you see below, they are promoting the show everywhere! I love that I can sit and watch the whole season in a matter of days, sometimes in one day! No commercials and no waiting. I do hate when I'm about to finish the seasons, so I try to delay it, lol. I know, it's sad. Don't judge me. 

If you are into politics and drama, this show is for you. I'm not hardcore into politics, but I do enjoy the drama, lol. Only in movies or TV that is. Not in real life! No drama for this Mama.

Life & Late Friday Fill-Ins...

I'm so enjoying tonight's weather! It's perfect for cuddling on the sofa with a cup of café watching a movie on Netflix. Which is what I am going to do a bit later, lol. I'm dying for the cold temperatures to come back later this week.♥

Well, the second week of the new year is almost over. How is it going so far? Keeping up with the resolutions? I stopped making resolutions years ago because I never kept them. Now, I just make wishes and hope some of them come true!

Sorry, I haven't been blogging that much for the past months. Not much has been going on, at least nothing that I feel comfortable blogging about. Things have been quiet around here for a bit, no loud music coming from downstairs so far. Can't tell you how happy I am about that. I have been able to enjoy (somewhat) my weekends because of it. I hope I'm not jinxing it by blogging about it.

I have had problems with water leaks in the ceiling. Three leaks this week alone. One from people who let their tub overflow. Water was coming down like it was raining. I was pissed because they fixed that part of the ceiling over the summer, they did a horrible job. It's an eyesore, now it looks worse. I was told someone was going to pass by on Monday, but no one did. Then two days later I have another leak (same spot) from the bathroom of the apartment above me. It leaks when they shower, a few drops only, but it's annoying no matter what. Just last night I had the same problem. I sent my daughter to let them know, she said the super knew, but hadn't passed by to fix the problem. Hopefully, he did so today. We'll see over the weekend.

As I was typing this I found out one of my daughter's friend mother might have cancer. Although I don't know either of them personally, I feel I know them because my daughter talks about them often. She's going through a rough time because her husband is ill and now this. I hope is nothing serious and if it is I hope that it is not terminal. Her daughter would be devastated as she's an only child. I believe in the power of a prayer, so please if you can, include their family in your prayers. I will be eternally grateful.♥♥

My Birthday Present & A Monday Meme.

My birthday is this month, so as a present I did something I always wanted to do, but kept putting it off because I was scared of the pain. Last Monday, I finally did it. I pierced my nose!

I asked my daughter to take me to a place she knew. She wanted me to wait until the next day, but I told her it has to be today! She asked me why? I said for personal reasons. Her answer? FOR PERSONAL REASONS, LOL (yes, she typed it in capital letters). I didn't want to tell her that if I waited another day I was going to chicken out again. So, off we went.

When we got there he was doing a piercing on a girl. I was nervous, but not as much as I thought I was going to be. I had read about it on the web so that calmed me down a lot. My daughter was more nervous than me, lol. She walked away when he was about to start. It was done in less than two minutes, and it didn't hurt as bad as I thought. As soon as he finished putting the stud in, the pain stopped. It was that fast! My eye teared up, but other than that it wasn't a big deal.

So far it is healing good. This was one of my main concerns. I was afraid of getting an infection. I clean it at least five times a day and I don't touch it unless I'm cleaning it. I also don't put makeup close to it. It looks a bit weird, but I rather look weird than risking getting an infection. I have read about people getting bumps weeks or months after. I'm crossing my fingers. If I get one, I already know what I need to do. Tea Tree Oil gets rid of it (100% pure). At least that's what I have read on the web.

For those of you who have been thinking about it (or are curious), but like me are afraid of the pain, etc. I posted a great video I found on youtube of the procedure. The guy that did mine didn't use a cork. I'm guessing not everyone uses one.

I also posted a video with tips for aftercare from someone who does piercings. This is how I clean mine. I wash it with soap and water first, then using a Q-tip with alcohol I clean it around and inside my nostril. After it dries, I use Walgreens antiseptic spray. The two videos below say you should use sea salt with water (boil the water first) to clean it. I'm getting sea salt tomorrow to add it to my aftercare. Also, H20cean Sterile Sea Salt piercing spray has good reviews. So far, I'm very happy with the results!

Dinero, Pink Eye & Friday Fill - Ins.

Well, I had hoped to be writing this post from somewhere in Paris after winning some of the Power Ball millions. I was already packing up my things, mentally. Instead, I got pink eye!

This was my first time playing Power Ball. I normally play mega millions or Win for life every now and then. It can get expensive to play every week though. Lucky those who won some of those millions, coño! Para la próxima vez.

My eye is hurting and it still red, but not as bad as yesterday. Yesterday, I couldn't open my eye. Had to take a nap for the pain to go away. I was starting to get a little worried since the ophthalmologist sent me for some eye exams because of my diabetes. Thankfully it seems to be getting better.

I have some errands to do today. I don't want to have to go tomorrow. The supermarket gets full on Saturdays. I like to take my time, but I hate bumping into people. Having someone give you the evil eye even after you apologize. So when it's full, I want to finish as soon as possible and I end up forgetting things. Usually, the thing I needed the most.

A Storm & Curious As A Cat Meme.

Are you ready for the storm? According to weather.com it's going to be a big one. I think it's too early to tell how bad it's going to hit New York City. However, it's better to be safe than sorry. We don't have to worry about flooding, but I went out to get a few things anyway. I was going to leave the grocery shopping for yesterday, but ended up going on Friday night. I'm glad I did because the aisles were looking a bit empty already. They were running out of bread and milk. I bought a few extra cans of milk. We drink a lot of milk in this house!

I have been doing laundry all day so I don't have to worry about running out of clean clothes. We don't have a dryer so my apartment looks like a bomb exploded with clothes hanging everywhere, lol. Someone else would say Ay, Dios mío que reguerete/Oh my God, what a mess!, but I don't mind. Anything not to have to go to a laundromat, right?

I also have my velas/candles ready in case of a power outage. I forgot to get some batteries, but I don't expect to need any. We are lucky that in all the years we have been living here, we've never had a power outage. Ok, I probably just jinxed it.

This is the latest update from weather.com. During times like these is when I miss not having this channel. I would be glued to it 24/7! Stay up to date with what's going on. Check if the MTA is going to suspend some of the service. You don't want to be stranded somewhere. Keeping my fingers crossed for those who live in low areas. Stay safe, mi gente!

Dusting off my blog, cough, cough. It feels like it was a month ago the last time I posted, but it has been a week and three days only. I was busy with life last week, going to appointments and running errands.

One of the appointments was a waste of time and money. They made me wait so long, I ended up rescheduling the appointment. It's not fun having to wait almost two hours after drinking four cups of water. I realize I could have drank four more cups of water, but I knew the same thing was going to happen again because there were about 15 people waiting. I was not happy having to reschedule as I wanted to get it over with.

I'm adding another meme to my list. I've seen it at Confessions of a Psychotic Housewife for some time, so I thought I would join the fun. If you would like to participate click on the image.

This past weekend was a semi quiet one, thank God! Don't know if the landlord had something to do with it or the asshole decided to take a break from being an ass. We will find out next week.

Friday night I made beef stew to eat during the weekend. I was so happy I had a break from having to cook a full meal for two days! Tonight is Alfredo chicken fettuccini, yum! One of our favorites. I'll share the recipe soon.  

If you are a fan of The Walking Dead, you probably know Netflix added the second season to streaming. I have been dying to see it, but put it off because I was waiting for my daughter to watch it together. Last night, she decided she was going to watch it on her computer. I was not happy! I will watch it by myself later today. Next time, I won't bother.

If you live in NY, and you have the same cable service as me you will know that the CW channel was taken off  air since August. I didn't find that out until recently when I went to set up my dvr to record Supernatural and 90210. I'm so pissed! The cable company didn't bother to send out emails or put an announcement on their site about it. They put an announcement on the channel, I never saw it. They don't bother to update customers if they are trying to work on some type of agreement to bring it back. Yet they charge customers to be able to see the channel. No credit will be given either. Greedy bastards! 

I had to sign up for Hulu Plus to be able to watch the CW shows on TV. Thank God for my son's PS3. I know I can watch it on CWTV.com, but they give so much commercials is like watching regular TV. My computer reboots when I'm watching videos or movies, so I don't have time to wait for the damn commercials. I wonder if Hulu has seen an increase of subscribers because of this.

Tomorrow I'm going to order a new power supply after waiting for so long! So excited about that. Hopefully I won't have any problems with the installation and it will boot up without a problem. I'm crossing my fingers that this will take care of my computer rebooting and freezing problems. If not, it's time to replace the motherboard and get a new case. Something I can't do right now because we are on a tight budget. Wish me luck!

If it wasn't for the internet I wouldn't have been able to take care of my computer problems. I can find how to videos, reviews and ask for help on forums. Thanks to all the people who take the time to post to help out a newbie!

Mi Vida & Late Friday Fill-Ins

Can't believe is October already, but I'm so happy summer is over. No more walking around drenched in sweat, yay! Halloween is around the corner and the stores are full of costumes. It makes me wish my kids were still small sometimes so we can go trick or treating. I have even been looking at Haunted Houses, lol. Reading reviews of some of the ones they have in the city. The prices though, ouch! If you go during the week they charge around $5 less. According to the reviews though, they are not worth the money. My daughter was invited to one, but she's not sure if she's going yet. I'm more excited than her! Have you ever been to one?

Tomorrow I have a therapist's appointment and I have to do some errands. We might end up going to the city, depends on the weather and my kids mood. I don't want to be here to hear the loud music from the jerk downstairs. I have taken the steps to try to resolve this problem, but obviously it was ignored, since the music just started getting louder downstairs. Yes, it's 10:53PM and the music just started blaring downstairs. If while you are praying you have some time to send a prayer for us, please do. It would be greatly appreciated. For those of you planning on moving, make sure this type of behavior is not accepted before you move in. That you have it in writing. It's hell having to live like this.

I meant to post this earlier, but was busy with other things. Daughter is out tonight so it is just my son, our cat and me. Enjoying a quiet night so far. Let's hope it stays that way. 

I'm excited tonight is the last season premiere of Fringe! It just started, but my son is using the TV, so I'll watch it a bit later. I'm staying away from spoilers! I'm so going to miss this show. Who else is watching?

Thursday 13 - The Last 13 Movies I've Seen

This week is going by too fast, coño! I want to start the week all over again, please? I used to enjoy my weekends, lately I haven't been able to due to some inconsiderate people. I hope the situation will change soon con la ayuda de Dios. If you can send a few prayers my way it would be greatly appreciated.

I'm dying for the 70's temperatures to go away. Or at least the humidity. I've been sitting here with the fan pointing at me because of the humidity and now I have a sore throat. Time to get a bag of halls and a bottle of honey just in case.

So, did you know that Entrecard closed down? I went to the site and it wouldn't load, then I noticed that the widget isn't working. I googled it and sure enough they closed a few weeks ago. I had no idea. Apparently they didn't bother to let anyone know. I'm going to miss Entrecard. I found a lot of good blogs through them. It would be nice if someone else picks it up, but I doubt it. If anyone knows of a similar service, please let me know.

Feedburner is also closing as of next month! I found out through a post from Blogher. There was an announcement last year, but I had no idea until now. Again, no warning. Now to find another free service that will offer the same thing. Google is starting to annoy me with the closing of so many services. I mean, if you are going to take over a company and, then close it without caring about how many people depend on it, then why bother at all?!

Anyway, time for my meme. I used to do this meme when I started blogging, but lost track of it. Memes are always fun and they give you something to write about. So glad it's a Monday, I get to have a little bit of quiet. Our weekend was half good. On Saturday we went to Central Park to enjoy some fresh air and get out of this hell hole. It was a beautiful day although it was a bit humid. We took tons of pictures, of dogs, trees, buildings and people. I will share some here. We don't get to go out to enjoy ourselves without having to worry about money, so this was a treat for us.

The Cooler Weather Is Coming!

Are you as excited as me that tomorrow is the start of fall?! Although the high around here is going to be in the 80's or at least that's what weather.com is saying. I love fall weather. The turning of the leaves, the cool nights, snuggling on the sofa with your loved ones. Love it! I wish we could have fall weather all year around. This year I'm going to make sure I taste one or two of the flavors Dunkin Donuts adds to their menu during this time. Oh, and their donuts as well, yum! Now I'm craving donuts, can't remember the last time I had one...

As you can see I didn't posted much this week. I needed a little bit of a break from the internet to deal with other things. I'll try to get back to posting more often soon. For now, I apologize for the boredom around here.  

Bueno, enjoy your weekend everyone. I might head out to the city tomorrow to walk around a bit. Who knows, it depends on my mood.

Craptastic Mood & Friday Fill-Ins.

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. I have been in a horrible mood. Although I want to post every day, once I sit here my mind goes blank. Last weekend I had a good therapy session and I was having a good day until I came home. Even though it was raining, the assholes that sit in front of the building couldn't go inside their apartment. Instead, they were sitting on the stairs inside the building. They didn't bother to move out of the way even though we were carrying bags from the supermarket.

Then as if that wasn't enough once I'm inside my apartment, the asshole downstairs after two months or so of not doing this, started blaring his music like he was at a club. This lasted from around 6:30PM to 12:00AM. The next day, I thought I was going to get some peace, no. He started with the same crap around 10:45AM until 2:30PM, then it started around 8PM again. I am not going to lie, I wanted to go downstairs and beat the shit out of him. I am in no way condoning violence, but I can understand why some people snap. I woke up shaking, I was so upset. I had to go in the bathroom to have a good cry a few times this week until I felt better.  

Needless to say, I have been upset about this all week. I don't know what to expect this weekend. If he is going to do this again or if he received a call from the landlord. I called and left a message on the landlord's answer machine. They never returned my phone call. Until now I haven't sent them a noise complaint in writing because I want to avoid problems and I don't think it would make a difference anyway. However, if this happens again this weekend I'm going to force myself to go that route. Enough is enough.

My daughter hates being here because of this. At first it would upset me that she wanted to be out as much as she could. Now I understand her. Who wants to be in a place that makes you feel anxious and angry? Moving is not an option, if that was the case I would have moved at the first sign of problems. Well, if I hit the lotto, then I would. I wouldn't wait a week! I would pack a few things and leave the rest, coño.

I decided long ago to cut the people that were sucking the life out of me out of my life. So besides my therapist and mis hijos I don't talk to anyone else. My therapist said it is good I have a blog. It's a way of communicating with other people. She even suggested that I join a group with my same interests to meet offline. I laughed. I mean, it sounds nice, but I doubt I will have the guts to do that. Listen to me, I sound like one of those movies where the character is talking to their shrink, lol.

I can feel my mood changing as I'm typing this. Blogging about the crap that is going on in your life does help make you feel better even if it is temporarily. It might not work for everyone, but for me it seems to work somewhat.

Life & Late Friday Fill-Ins!

I hope everyone is enjoying their night/day, depending where they are. My daughter went out with her friend, so it is just me and my son. My son is playing video games next to me and our cat is sleeping, lol. I'm listening to some lite piano music to try to relax while I catch up with some blogs and the news. Although I should stay away from the news. I'm feeling anxious and reading the news obviously makes it worse.

I started playing CityVille on Facebook again out of boredom. That game is addicting, but is a killer on the eyes because everything is so small. I still enjoy it though. If you still play and I have you as a friend on Facebook add me! I need more neighbors, lol.

1. So because we have recently gotten engaged I was wondering how all your hubby's popped the big question?

First, congrats to Lisa on her engagement! I'm not married anymore but this is how it happened. We were both living in Puerto Rico when we tried to elope because my grandmother didn't wanted us to keep seeing each other. However, my aunt ended up picking me up at his house a few hours later, after my mother had spoken to both of us over the phone. I ended up moving to NY after that and before I left Puerto Rico he told me we will get married when I get there. So that was it...

2. What Jewelery do you wear daily?

A small stud cross earring. I've had it for ages and I never take it off. When I go out I wear three silver rings and a pair of earrings. I need to buy some jewelry!

3. Have you ever been told you talk in your sleep?

Yes! I talk, laugh, chew and scream, lol. Yes, I have woken up chewing air because I was dreaming about food!

4. What are 3 websites you visit daily?

Plurk, Twitter, AOL

5. Are you allergic to anything?

Read this again and I decided to change it because I am allergic to certain things. When I first read the question I thought about a deadly allergic reaction kind of thing. I am allergic to cats (yes, I have one!), certain scents (vanilla gives me a huge headache), dust, pollen & mold. I love going to Bed Bath & Beyond, but I can't stay long because I start sneezing like crazy and my eyes get super itchy because all the scented candles, etc.

6. Have you ever had the chicken pox?

Yes, but I really don't remember when. I do remember my cousin being sick with it and I was putting Caladryl on her.

7. Last book you read?

A Sudden Change of Heart by Barbara Taylor Bradford

8.  4 of your Favorite Alcoholic drinks.

I don't drink so I don't have that many favorites, lol. One I liked a lot when I was in Puerto Rico was 43 mixed with milk. Yum!

Yo dije en este post que había encontrado tutoriales de como hacer diseños para mis uñas en YouTube. Que tenía que ordernar unas cosas. Finalmente ordene dos placas de Konad para estampar mis uñas, pero no las recibo hasta la semana que viene. Odio tener que esperar pero no tengo otra opción! Mientras tanto, decidí tratar un tutorial de como hacer un diseño de gradiente. Yo creo que me quedaron bastante bien para ser la primera vez, ha, ha. Hay muchos tutoriales, chequea cual es el más fácil para ti. No puedo darme el lujo de hacerme las uñas en un salón de belleza, de esta manera mis uñas se ven bonitas sin gastar un montón de dinero! Mi nueva obseción...


I said on this post that I had found tutorials on YouTube on how to do designs for my nails. That I had to order a few things. I finally ordered two plates from Konad to stamp my nails, but I won't get them until next week. I hate waiting, but I have no other option! Meanwhile, I decided to try a tutorial on how to do a gradient design. I think they came out pretty good for the first time, lol. There are many tutorials, check which one is easiest for you. I can't afford to do my nail at a beauty salon, so this way my nails look pretty without spending tons of money! My new obsession...
