Ayer estaba viendo los Latin Grammys Awards. Los grabé en el DVR y como necesitaba espacio decidí verlo. Me trajo muchos recuerdos de cuando vivía en Puerto Rico. La primera canción de Calle 13 (Latinoamérica), me gustó mucho. Nunca había oido la música de ese grupo. En fín me puse a pensar en los tiempos de antes, las navidades y de toda la música que se escuchaba en aquellos años. Las navidades se pasaban tan bien. No eran acerca de regalos sino acerca de pasarla con la familia y amistades. La pasabamos bailando, comiendo buena comida y después a llevarle parrandas a los vecinos y a familiares que vivían en otros pueblos. Nos quedabamos hasta las 3 y 4 de la mañana! Ay, tantos recuerdos! 

Ya que me dió nostalgia decidí buscar en youtube algunas de las canciones para compartirlas con mis lectores y a la misma vez añadirlas a mi lista de música Navideña, salsa y merengue. Espero que las disfruten tanto como yo..

Yesterday I was watching the Latin Grammys Awards. I recorded it on the DVR and since I needed space I decided to watch it. It brought back memories from when I lived in Puerto Rico. I really liked the first song from Calle 13 (Latinoamérica). Never heard the music of that band before. Anyway, I started thinking about back in the days, the holidays and all the music we used to listened to in those years. The holidays were good. It wasn't about gifts it was about spending it with family and friends. We would dance, have good food and then to take the parrandas to the neighbors and relatives living in other towns. We would stay until 3 and 4 in the morning! So many memories!

Since I was nostalgic I decided to look for some of the songs on youtube to share it with my readers and at the same time add it to my music list of Christmas music, salsa and merengue. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do..

Yo dije en este post que había encontrado tutoriales de como hacer diseños para mis uñas en YouTube. Que tenía que ordernar unas cosas. Finalmente ordene dos placas de Konad para estampar mis uñas, pero no las recibo hasta la semana que viene. Odio tener que esperar pero no tengo otra opción! Mientras tanto, decidí tratar un tutorial de como hacer un diseño de gradiente. Yo creo que me quedaron bastante bien para ser la primera vez, ha, ha. Hay muchos tutoriales, chequea cual es el más fácil para ti. No puedo darme el lujo de hacerme las uñas en un salón de belleza, de esta manera mis uñas se ven bonitas sin gastar un montón de dinero! Mi nueva obseción...


I said on this post that I had found tutorials on YouTube on how to do designs for my nails. That I had to order a few things. I finally ordered two plates from Konad to stamp my nails, but I won't get them until next week. I hate waiting, but I have no other option! Meanwhile, I decided to try a tutorial on how to do a gradient design. I think they came out pretty good for the first time, lol. There are many tutorials, check which one is easiest for you. I can't afford to do my nail at a beauty salon, so this way my nails look pretty without spending tons of money! My new obsession...

Belated Spanish Friday - Mensajes de Spam

Yo odio cuando mi buzón se llena de mensajes de spam. Yo lo configuro para que la mayoría de los mensajes spam vayan al sobre de junk, pero siempre se cuelan dos o tres (y a veces más). Abajon pueden ver tres de las que terminaron en mi buzón. Lo triste es que todavía hay muchas personas que no saben de computadoras y el internet, que si caen en la trampa. Por eso si conocen a alguien que no sabe mucho de computadoras, hable con ellos acerca de mensajes de spam para no terminen perdiendo miles de dólares...


I hate when my inbox is full of spam. I set it up so that the majority of spam goes to the junk folder, but there is always two or three (sometimes more) that slip through. Below are three that ended up in inbox. The sad part is that there are a lot of people who don't know much about computers or the internet that do fall into the trap. So if you know someone who don't know much about computers, talk to them about spam emails so they don't end up loosing thousands of dollars...

Spanish Friday - Barato!

A mi encanta cuando encuentro algo bien barato que he esperado a comprar por un buen tiempo por que no he tenido suficiente dinero. Tu sabes como es, cuentas, comida y artículos personales son primero. El año pasado me dí de cuenta que yo puedo comprar un libro de citas bien barato en una tienda de 99¢ que hay por aquí. Si claro tengo que esperar un mes después que empieza el año para que los empiezen a vender, pero me cuesta solamente $1.89! Comparado con $8.99 a $11.99,  que es lo que me cuesta cuando lo compro en Target o más caro si lo compro en otra tienda. Como pueden ver en las fotos, tiene todo lo que necesito. La primera página es plástica, con calendarios desde 2011 hasta 2013. La última página es plástica tambíén, con los días feriados desde 2012 hasta 2015. Que yo sepa no tiene nada malo para que los vendan tan barato. Como que le falte un día a una de las páginas (como he encontrado en los calendarios que he recibido gratis por correo de Betty Crocker or alguíen más) o algo así. Los venden en diferentes tamaños, pero escogí este porque no quiero que ocupe mucho espacio. Me encanta tener cosas de oficinas!


I love when I find something really cheap that I have waited to buy for some time because I haven't had enough money. You know how it is, bills, food and personal items come first. Last year I noticed that I can buy an appointment book really cheap at a 99¢ store around here. Of course I have to wait a month after the year starts for them to start selling them, but it only costs $1.89! Compared with $8.99 to $11.99, that's how it is if I buy it at Target or more expensive if I buy it at another store. As you can see in the photos, it has everything I need. The first page is plastic, with the calendars from 2011 to 2013. The last page is also plastic, with the holidays from 2012 to 2015. That I know of there is nothing wrong with it for them to sell it so cheap. Like a missing day to one of the pages (like I found on free calendars I have received in the mail from Betty Crocker or someone else) or something like that. They sell it in different sizes, but I chose this one because I don't want it to take a lot space. I love having office stuff!

¡Otra vez con mis sueños! Anoche tuve dos sueños porque me levanté dos veces. El primero me dejó fría, soñé que un hombre había entrado en mi apartamento mientras todos estabamos dormidos. Fué tan real que me desperté con el corazón en la garganta. El hombre me tapó mi nariz para que yo habriera la boca. Me iba a dar algo de tomar para ponerme inconsciente. Yo estaba tratando de gritar pero no podía. Estaba paralizada del miedo. Estaba tratando de pararme pero el me estaba aguantando. Cuando estaba perdiendo el conocimiento en el sueño, me desperté. Me sentí como si me hubiesen hechado un balde de agua fría. Lo primero que pensé fue que así se deben sentir las mujeres que han pasado por eso. Que horrible! Me tardé bastante para volverme a dormir.

El segundo sueño fué completamente diferente. Soñé que yo tenía una compañera de cuarto y que ella había traído un perrito. En el sueño, yo le estaba aguantando la patas a mi gato para que no arrañara al perrito. Poco a poco mi gato se estaba acostumbrando al perrito. Claro, me desperté con ganas de comprar uno, lol. Ayer estaba viendo unos videos en un blog. La dueña tiene un perro, un gato y hace poco compró un gatito. Eso se me quedó en la mente porque era tan bonito! Me volví a dormir pero la tercera vez que me desperté me quede despierta.



Again with my dreams! Last night I had two dreams because I woke up twice. The first one left me cold, I dreamt that a man had entered my apartment while we were all asleep. It was so real that I woke up with my heart in my throat. The man covered my nose so I would open my mouth. He was going to give me something to drink to put me unconscious. I was trying to scream but I couldn't. I was paralyzed with fear. I was trying to get up but he was holding me down. When I was loosing consciousness in the dream, I woke up. I felt like someone dropped a bucket of cold water on me. The first thing I thought was, this is how women who have been through that must feel. How horrible! It took me a long time to go back to sleep.

The second dream was completely different. I dreamt that I had a roommate and she had brought home a puppy. In the dream I was holding my cat's legs so he wouldn't scratch the puppy. Little by little my cat was getting used to it. Of course, I woke up wanting to buy a puppy, lol. Yesterday I was watching some videos on a blog. The owner has a dog, a cat and not too long ago she got a kitten. That stayed in my mind because he was so cute! I went back to sleep but the third time I woke up, I stayed awake.

Anoche tuve un sueño con Jeremy Sisto! Soñe que el era mi novio, lol. Dios mío, me desperté enamorada. Ayer estaba viendo el programa Suburgatory con mi hija, donde él es uno de los protagonistas. Yo le dije a mi hija, tu lo ves a él en este show pero el estuvo en Law & Order por muchos años. Un personaje completamente diferente a este. Parece que me quedé pensando en eso sin darme cuenta ya que me encantaba su personaje en Law & Order. Tan rico que se veía. Mi imaginación hace que sueñe casi todas las noches!


Last night I had a dream with Jeremy Sisto! I dreamed that he was my boyfriend, lol. My God, I woke up in love. Yesterday I was watching the show Suburgatory with my daughter, where he is one of the main characters. I said to my daughter, you see him on this show but he was on Law & Order for many years. A completely different character from this one. It seems I kept thinking about it without knowing it since I loved his character on Law & Order. He looked so good. Mi imagination makes me dream almost every night!

Spanish Friday - Remedios Caseros

Yo soy una de esas personas que tiene muchos lunares en el cuerpo. Pero hace unos meses me salió una angioma cereza en un dedo. Al principio era pequeño, pero después de lastimarmelo mientras abría una caja de cereal me empezó a doler y a crecer un poco. Decidí buscar en Google para ver si había un remedio casero para deshacerme de el y gracias a Dios encontré uno (lee los comentarios, fecha 9/7/2011). Muy simple, cojer un algodón con vinagre de manzana y aplicarlo en el angioma dos veces al día (yo lo hice una vez al día) por diez minutos por cuatro a cinco días. El angioma se va secando hasta que se cae. Como pueden ver en los fotos, me dio resultado! Me di de cuenta esta mañana. No se si me va a volver a crecer pero estoy feliz de que finalmente no tengo esa cosa tan fea en mi dedo. Gracias a Dios por el internet y por remedios caseros! Espero que esto ayude a otras personas que tienen el mismo problema.





I'm one of those people who have many moles on the body. But a few months ago I got a cherry angioma on my finger. At first it was small, but after getting hurt while I was opening a box of cereal, it started hurting and growing a bit. I decided to search Google to see if there was a home remedy to get rid of it and thank God I found one (read the comments, date 9/7/2011). Very simple, take a cotton ball with apple cider vinegar and apply it on the cherry angioma for ten minutes twice a day (I did it once a day) for four to five days. The cherry angioma starts drying up until it falls. As you can see in the photos, it worked! I noticed it this morning. I don't know if it is going to grow again but I'm happy that finally, I don't have that ugly thing on my finger. Thank God for the internet and home remedies! I hope this helps other people who have the same problem.

Spanish Friday - Revisión De Kat Von D's Lápiz De Labios Set.

Hacen dos semanas que no he participado en Spanish Friday porque he estado ocupada con la vida, pero aquí estoy otra vez! No hace mucho mi hija compró un set de lápiz de labios de Kat Von D llamado Painted Love y Foiled lipstick set en Sephora. Lo cual me encantó porque hace mucho tiempo que he querido tratar sus cosméticos. Lo bueno es que mi hija y yo tenemos los mismos gustos en muchas cosas incluyendo maquillaje. Aunque tengo cuarenta y pico de años mentalmente me siento en mis treintas, lol.

El set trae seis mini lápiz de labios en mate y metálicos con colores como Hellbent y Whiskey Woman. Me encantan los nombres, lol. Los colores son bellos aunque se ven más oscuros de lo que son en el la página de Sephora y en la parte de atrás de la caja. Por ejemplo, Celebutard es mucho más claro como pueden ver en la foto. A mí me gustaron los colores más oscuros especialmente, pienso que me quedan mejor. Yo pensé que como tienen ingredientes emolientes iban a ser grasosos pero para mi sorpresa no lo son. Tanto pronto me lo puse me dí de cuenta que tienen buena textura. Los colores tienen alta pigmentación y duran casi todo el día. Tres cosas que son bien importantes para mí ya que tengo piel grasosa y el maquillaje se me derrite en una hora, media hora si el clima está húmedo.

Para personas que los vayan a usar con mucha frecuencia el tamaño les parecerá muy pequeño pero para mí es suficiente. Además como son pequeños los puedes llevar en tu cartera, en un bolsillo de tu blusa o en tus jeans. Este set es edición limitada, no sé hasta cuando va a estar disponible. El set cuesta $28.00 y lo puedes comprar en Sephora.

It has been two weeks that I haven't participated in Spanish Friday because I have been busy with life, but here I am again. Not too long my daughter purchased a set of lipsticks from Kat Von D called Painted Love & Foiled lipstick set at Sephora. Which I loved because I have been wanting to try her cosmetics for a long time. The good thing is that my daughter and I have the same taste in a lot of things including makeup. Even though I'm forty something years old, mentally I feel I'm in my thirties, lol.

The set brings six mini lipsticks with matte and foiled colors like Hellbent and Whiskey Woman. Love the names, lol. The colors are beautiful although they look darker than they really are in Sephora's page and in back of the box. For example, Celebutard is a lot lighter as you can see in the photo. I liked the darker colors especially, I think they look better on me. I thought that because they have emollients ingredients they would be greasy but to my surprise they are not. As soon as I put it on I noticed the good texture. The colors have high pigmentation and last almost all day. Three things that are very important to me because I have oily skin and the makeup melts away in an hour, half hour if the climate is humid.

For people who are going to use them frequently the size might seem too small but for me it's enough. Besides since they are small you can carry them in your purse, the pocket of your blouse or in your jeans. This set is limited edition, I don't know until when it will be available. This set costs $28.00 and you can purchase it at Sephora.

Spanish Friday - Dulces

It's time for another Latinaish's Spanish Friday. This post is in Spanish. If you would like a translation you can use the translate widget on the sidebar.

He estado leyendo el Blog Life in the Armpit en donde puedes leer acerca del El Salvador y la vida cotidiana de la autora y su familia. Lo cual me ha hecho sentir nostalgia for la comida y dulces de mi país, Puerto Rico. Anoche fuí a la bodega a comprar leche y pan. Pero terminé comprando más de lo que necesitaba como pueden ver en la fotos. Compré unos dulces y aunque no dicen que son hechos en Puerto Rico, son hechos por latinos y eso para mí es suficiente, lol. Aunque con el nombre El Faro Bakery creo que los dueños si son Puertorriqueños. 

Todos me gustaron, pero el más que me gustó fue el de la etiqueta blanca. Con la consistencia más suave y con el sabor más dulce. Rico! Se ven grande en las fotos pero no lo son. Son pequeños y cada uno cuesta 89¢ (en los tiempos de antes costaban 5¢).  Pero como dicen en Puerto Rico, perfume bueno viene en frasco pequeño. Ya que son tan dulce con comerse uno es suficiente para calmar los deseos!

Belated Spanish Friday - Receta.

Aquí estoy con mi Spanish Friday y como pueden ver estoy tarde otra vez. Bueno, yo les he dicho que no me gusta cocinar mucho. Sin embargo, últimamente como he estado cocinando todos los días incluyendo los fines de semanas me ha empezado a gustar. ¿La razón? Estamos en un presupuesto por lo tanto no puedo comprar lo quiero sino no lo que mi dinero me permite. Es por eso que he estado experimentando con diferentes recetas y todas me han salido bien buenas. No quiero presumir, pero mis hijos no se han quejado hasta ahora, ha, ha.


El Jueves por la mañana entré a Google+ y ví una receta que Yoli from Cuponeando compartió. La receta, Pollo en Escabeche! Me acordé de lo guineitos en escabeche que mi abuela hace, tan ricos. Como no tenía ni idea de que cocinar y tenía todos los ingredientes (menos aceitunas) decidí tratarla! Me quedó rico y aunque le faltaba las aceitunas para tener un poco de más sabor, se dejó comer (como decimos en Puerto Rico). No le puse aceitunas porque no tenía. Yo lo hice con arroz blanco y plátanos maduros. Gracias a Yoli for esta rica receta.

Mi Primer Spanish Friday!

Sé que es Sábado ya que son la 1:00AM pero en Los Angeles todavía es Viernes! Hacen varias semanas que he querido participar en Latinaish's Spanish Friday. Como pueden ver me decidí a partipar. Yo me crié en Puerto Rico pero me mudé para Nueva York hace 20 y pico de años. Con el tiempo dejé de hablar Español a menudo y ahora se me hace un poco difícil hablarlo y escribirlo. Éste meme es una oportunidad para utilizar mi Español. Sería una verguenza que se me olvide siendo mi primer idioma. 

He estado leyendo Latinaish hace unos meses pero nunca he dejado comentarios. Soy tímida, tiendo a pensar mucho antes de hacer cosas que me vayan a poner en una situación que requiera tener una conversación. Se que algunos de ustedes se estarán preguntando y que carajo hago blogueando, ha, ha. Blogueo por esa misma razón, estoy frente a un monitor y no frente a una persona. Me hace sentir segura. Pero poco a poco voy a superar mi timidez. Muchas gracias a Tracy Lopez, dueña de Latinaish.com por darme el empujón que necesitaba para bloguear en Español!
