Happy New Year! | Feliz Año Nuevo!

Happy New Years Eve everyone! Well, the world didn't end and another year will be over in a few hours. Like we say in Puerto Rico. Hora de dejar los malos espíritus atrás/Time to leave the evil spirits behind. Are you ready for the new year? I am, I think. LOL I haven't been in a celebrating mood these holidays. I'm listening to holiday music on Spotify to cheer up a bit. Is it working? A bit, so far...

The food is cooking and my apartment smells delish. Dinner will be ready soon. I cooked our usual holiday dinner. You know, the pernil, arroz con gandules, etc. Our cat is laying in the kitchen doorway enjoying the warmth of the oven, lol. He's passed out. If only I was as relaxed as him right now!

I hope everyone is having a great day wherever they are. I want to wish you all a new year full of happiness, laughter, love, good health and beautiful memories...

More Prayers, Life & Happy Veterans Day

I hope everyone enjoyed Veterans Day. Remembering those who have fought for the freedom of this country. Many hugs to those who have lost someone protecting this country so that we can enjoy the freedom we sometimes take for granted.♥♥

I haven't posted in a week, but it seems like it has been longer. I have been in a blah mood lately, add to that a toothache (scared of the dentist. yes, I admit it!) and allergies. Not fun. When I'm doing other things I think about blog posts, but once I sit here my mind goes blank. Anyone has blogging magic dust out there?

Sending prayers to those affected by hurricane Sandy and still dealing with the power outages and clean up. The story about the mother who lost her two boys while trying to get away from the flood, breaks my heart. I hope she's surrounded by family and friends to help her get through the heartbreak. Losing one child is devastating, but losing two is even worse. According to the article I read she was knocking in people's doors  asking for help, but no one helped her. When they found her she was suffering from hypothermia. I think it's sad no one tried to help her. Even if they couldn't go out to help her look for her children, at least they could have offered her some comfort, coño. Their bodies were found and they were able to give them a proper burial. My prayers to her and her family. May God give her the strength to deal with the huge loss.

My daughter's friend had no electricity for almost a week. Daughter stayed over last weekend to help them out. They all slept in the living room using a small heater to stay warm. The heat and hot water was back on four days later. Her dad is back home after her had to be taken to the hospital where they kept him for a week or so. Thankfully, things are back to normal for them.

I have two reviews and giveaways coming up from Mary Kay and Dermagist. Stay tuned! Photobucket

Prayers & Halloween

I meant to post this early, but started doing other things and forgot I hadn't published it. First, my prayers to those affected by hurricane Sandy. Our area wasn't hit hard, and I thank God for that. The tree in front of some of our windows hit the fire escape a couple of times, and the lights flickered a few times, but other than that not much happened. If it wasn't for me looking out of the window I wouldn't have known that it was raining.

One of my daughter's friend lives in the city, in an area where the power is still out. She haven't heard from her since last night after her cell phone ran out of battery. Tomorrow she's going to try to go check up on them. Her father is not well, so I'm praying they are doing ok.

Stay safe, mi gente. Don't put yourself or someone else in harm's way for the sake of taking a picture or a video. I heard this last night on the radio. A crew member called a radio station to give updates when a man walks over to a live wire with his children just so he could take pictures. He had to tell him to move away because that was a live wire. Scary.

I know that because of hurricane Sandy some of you felt bad celebrating Halloween while others are going through a rough time. Still, Halloween is a day kids look forward to every year, so I hope your kiddies got to enjoy Halloween even if it was a little bit. I heard some kids trick or treating around here, but it wasn't a big crowd. I've enjoyed the photos I've seen around. It brings back good memories.Photobucket

We didn't do anything especial today. Except I didn't have to cook dinner! My daughter wanted to get McDonald's because she wanted to check if her cell phone is working outside. It is, but for some reason is not working inside the apartment. It has been like that for a week now, before the storm. At this point she's going to exchange the cell phone. Four phone calls to customer service and the service still sucks.

Happy Halloween!

Life & Happy Labor Day!

I hope everyone has enjoyed their Labor Day! I meant to post this earlier, but I have been fiddling with my computer. We didn't do anything special as usual. We stayed in, each of us is doing their own thing right now. My daughter is in her room, son is in the living room (where I am) playing video games. I'm on my computer catching up on blogs and searching for things on amazon.com, and adding them to my wish list, lol. One can dream, right?

Why is it that when you are extremely broke that's when everything decides to break at the same time? My computer has been driving me crazy because it keeps rebooting. So, when I was about to buy a new power supply to hopefully get rid of the problem, I noticed that the fan on the power supply for the kid's computer stopped working! Grrr! A computer that until now has never given me any problem. I had to order a power supply for their computer instead of mine. It gets here on Wednesday. I'm crossing my fingers that it will start the computer without any problems.

What else broke? My glasses frame broke. I had to fix them with krazy glue because I can't get a new pair yet. I mentioned on this post that I have to have three eye exams. The doctor told me to wait until I'm done with the exams before I get a new pair. I hope everything will be done by the end of this month because these glasses are too old. I need a stronger prescription.

Bueno, I should get back to the kitchen to keep cooking dinner. Today's dinner? Chicken en escabeche, yum! Then, to watch Warehouse 13 or a movie on Netflix.Photobucket

Happy 4th Of July!/Feliz Día de 4 De Julio!

Photobucket

Happy 4th of July to everyone! I keep forgetting today is Wednesday and not Saturday. If it wasn't for the firecrackers last night I would have forgotten about today. We are not doing anything special for today. Just staying in relaxing. I'm catching up with blogs, Twitter, etc.

Around here so far things have been quiet today, no firecrackers. Last night though, my cat was hiding under my desk because of the firecrackers and cherry bombs going off every minute. Even I was jumping, lol. If I went to the kitchen he would go right behind me almost dragging himself through the floor. That's how scared he was, bendito.

I was hoping we were going to get movies in the mail yesterday, but mi hija forgot to mail the movies when I told her, so we are getting them tomorrow. Coño, I was so looking forward to having a good movie night. Guess not.Photobucket

Bueno, I hope every one is enjoying their day with their family and friends. Stay cool and stay safe, mi gente!Photobucket

Happy Memorial Day!

Happy Memorial Day to everyone! Hugs to those with family and friends serving, keeping our country safe everyday. Prayers to those who have lost their lives protecting us, and many thanks to those who risk their lives protecting this country's freedom, for their sacrifice.♥♥

We didn't do anything special this weekend. We stayed in enjoying each other's company, watching movies and playing video games. I even played some Resident Evil 5, lol. Or at least tried! It's difficult for me to control the camera and move at the same time. I like the game, but I have to master moving both analog sticks, lol. Give me Tekken, now that I can handle!

Now, back to doing laundry, cleaning up, making dinner, doing my nails and getting ready for the week. Stay safe and enjoy what is left of the weekend...

On Mother's Day.

I meant to write this post two weeks ago, but I have been busy with life, and my computer started acting up so I had to re-install windows twice. I kind of gave up on it for a day, lol. Right now it seems to be working fine, but every now and then reboots. Sucks to have an old computer!

Anyway, we went to the city on Mother's day. We walked around a bit then we went to Bryant Park. This was my first time going to that park. I thought it would be bigger so I was a bit disappointed, but it was nice. As you can see there were a lot of people but not to the point where you couldn't walk. There were a few families sitting on the grass area. No loud noises, just the birds, people talking and the occasional horn honking. My kind of place. I imagine at night it gets full.

We stayed there for about 4 hours, just enjoying the breeze. We took some pictures, as you can see below. Since we are on a budget (eating in the city is very expensive), we ended up eating at Burger King. That Burger King sucked! The people working there were nasty, then some pendeja came in to cut in on the line, so she got into an argument with a man. Forget it, it was a whole lot of drama! We wanted to eat at Wendy's but there weren't any sits available. We went to eat late so they had closed the second floor. Next time, we just won't eat!

I can't remember the last time I was around that area so there is bunch of things that were new to me. Like the sitting area around Macy's. My daughter took a picture, but it came out blurry because we were walking. You can see how the area looks like though. It looks like a nice place to sit around to eat lunch or dinner. Those stores around there must make a lot of money from all those people sitting there for hours! So many temptations, lol.

We had a nice time, after all. If only we had left home earlier, we could have avoided the Burger King drama. I have more pictures, I'll post them on my next post...

Happy Mother's Day/Feliz Día de las Madres!

Happy Mother's Day to all the Mamas out there! I hope your day is full of love, hugs and kisses. That you are treated like the Queen that you are! My daughter gave me a present this morning. Can you guess what it is? They look like candy but they are handmade soaps! The lady told my daughter what they are made out of, but she forgot. One of them is made with honey as you can see in the picture. They smell divine! They look so pretty, I don't want to use them, lol.

I commented on Facebook that I wasn't going to do anything special today, but my daughter asked me if we could go out. So we are going to the city, eat dinner (no cooking for me, yay!) somewhere and walk around. Maybe go to Central Park, love sitting there for hours. I'll be taking pictures that's for sure.

Enjoy your day, mi gente!

Happy Easter, Mi Gente!

Happy Easter, mi gente! I don't celebrate this day anymore, except for eating some chocolate, he, he. Now that I think about it, when I lived in Puerto Rico and when I first moved to New York is when I truly celebrated Easter. My grandmother made sure we always did. Then she stopped coming to New York and we stopped celebrating it a little less every year. So may good memories.

I don't have anything special planned for today. I just want to relax, read a book, watch a movie (we rented Real Steel and Immortals) and enjoy my day, something I haven't been able to do this weekend because of the asshole downstairs. Doing construction and playing loud music since Friday morning at 9:00am until 8:30pm. So far he hasn't played music, although I heard some drilling not too long ago. I don't mind the construction, what I do mind is the damn music booming through my whole apartment all day long. Please, pray that I get to have a peaceful Sunday...

I hope everyone is enjoying their day whether you celebrate Easter or not. Stay safe!Photobucket

Happy Valentine's Day/Feliz Día De San Valentín!

Happy Valentine's Day/Feliz Día de San Valentín! I know I'm late in the day, but I have been busy. We really don't celebrate this day, it's like any other day for us. My daughter received roses from her boyfriend. He sent her red roses in a red vase. Very pretty, she was very happy because it was a surprise. Oh yeah, I forgot. I received an ecard from my ex, lol. During the years we were together he barely remembered this day. Now, after two years I get one. Men!

I have been busy painting my bedroom with my son's help. Well, he did most of it. I don't remember painting being so hard! Especially the ceiling, I guess that's was happens when you are old. I remember when I was young painting our house and not being in pain and sweating buckets! Thank God we are done. Now to put all the stuff back inside. My living room looks like a bomb exploded. I have too much junk so some of it is going in the trash. Who gets a cold from painting? Me! I had to open the window in my room while we were painting, so both (my son and I) got a cold. Cough, cough...

Anyway, I hope everyone is enjoying their day/night/morning wherever you are. That you at least got a hug from you loved ones or friends. My daughter just came from Target and I had asked her to bring some chocolates but she was already on the bus. Tomorrow K-mart will probably have some sales, so she said she's going to bring me some. I guess I'm getting some Valentine's Day chocolates after all. Even if it is a day late!♥♥
