According To Her.

I saw this photo and it brought back memories and not pleasant ones. The word lazy is a word that I will forever hate. You see my mother used to call me lazy all the time. Because well according to her I am lazy. She used to tell me, stop sleeping so much don't you get tired of sleeping? You are so lazy, why don't you clean this place? According to her I didn't cleaned enough or cleaned at all. And she would say this anywhere and in front of anyone which pissed me off so much. I wanted to tell her to go to hell but of course I was a good daughter so it was something I would never say.

Back then people didn't believe in depression. It was something for strange and rich people to suffer from. I was simply being lazy because I had to force myself to get out of bed everyday. Because I didn't wanted to cook, clean or take a shower. Didn't wanted anyone to come over my place. She would ring my doorbell non stop and I wouldn't open so she would go to my window to call my name really loud. Sometimes I had no choice but to open the door because she would start saying, I know you are there! She didn't understand that I just wanted to be alone and not deal with anything.

She would tell my daughter don't be lazy like your mother. Look at her how fat she is. You don't want to be like that. Sometimes she didn't mean to be mean (at least that's what I want to believe) but others she wanted to hurt my feelings. It never occurred to her that I might be suffering from depression. She never saw me crying in my room, eating in hiding to make myself feel better. She only saw me being lazy.

She suffered from depression at one point too but didn't wanted to admit it and never got help for it. What made the whole thing worse is that I went to a doctor and he too didn't believe in depression. In his words what I had was "bored wife syndrome". I couldn't believe what was I hearing. I thought I'm fucked, I feel like shit and no one can help me.

I suffered from depression for years before it stopped being something that only rich people suffered from. Finally, a doctor prescribed me something. I got better and was doing good for about two years. Then it started again but didn't go to the doctor until last year. Now I'm on meds and trying to get better. I no longer have a relationship with my mother or any other family member. For now that's how I want things to be. I want peace, not anyone trying to belittle me by calling me lazy and fat...

On the Streets of NYC.

Guest post written by Lois Pierce

PhotobucketThere’s a reason they call New York City one of the most exciting places on earth. I think that’s why I decided to move here when I retired—you know, most people go down south to settle in a retirement community in Florida. But me? No way—I wanted to enjoy my new found freedom.

But there’s only one wrench in my plan: I’ve noticed that my hearing has been a little dulled lately, even here on the bustling streets of the Big Apple. I can hear people when they’re talking right beside me, but it’s hard to tell when the Subway is coming from afar or when the crosswalk is chiming or not. That’s when I decided to stop by Miracle Ear New York to get fitted for my new hearing aids.

They’re working so well, I even called my cousin in Maryland to recommend them to her, since she’d been having trouble with her ears, too. She searched around on the web for hearing aids Miracle Ear Baltimore MD, and found a location near her. Now, she’s hearing better than ever. I told her she could thank me later. Pin It Now!

My Dreams Trying To Tell Me Something?

I have been having the most awful dreams lately. To the point where I wake up with my heart racing, screaming trying to get away from something. When it is not some kind of natural disaster happening and I'm trying to get away from water with my children. There is an earthquake and again I'm trying to keep my children safe. My daughter gets upset because of my nightmares but I tell her is not my fault. All these nightmares are starting me make think my dreams are trying to tell me something!

I find myself thinking should I get family life insurance? In case something happens to me my children are not left with nothing. I mean, I'm in my 40's but all these nightmares are making me feel uneasy and wondering what if I die tomorrow. My children wouldn't be able to give me a proper burial and much less pay the bills. I'm sure I can find a cheap life insurance that we can afford. Definitely have to look the ones with the best rates. Hopefully my nightmares will go away...

Back In The 80's.

On Saturday I saw the movie War Games con mis hijos/with my children. Yes, the one with Mathew Broderick. My son started watching it first although he complained that it was too old but I told him to keep watching that he was going to like it. And sure enough he was completely into the movie minus the music, then my daughter followed. They both enjoyed it even though it was an old movie.

I think I'm going to start a tradition to watch an 80's or 90's movie once a month. Since I don't have movies from when I was a teenager just limited pictures at least they can see how times were back then through movies. How people lived, dressed and passed their time. Of course it might not always be accurate but it will give them an idea. Also, you know how youngins complain these days about what they have and what to do to entertain themselves, this my way of letting them know they are lucky in so many ways.

Movies now are very different from the 80's movies so they also get an opportunity to share with me the movies I saw back then. They get a kick out of my stories, lol. Which I am totally happy about!Photobucket

Sunday Funnies.

I can't believe is already the end September! This month flew by. Christmas is around the corner and just like that we will be in 2011! Soon people are going to start ranting more about how the world is going to end in 2012 and how we must prepare. What do you think? Are you going to start stocking up on food etc or you think everything is just crazy people talk?

On to today's funnies. This image might be old but I just saw it and it made me laugh. Hope everyone is enjoying their day even if it is cloudy like it is around here today. I might be doing the same shit I do everyday but I am so enjoying the cool weather!Photobucket

Pet Personality Quiz!

Want to have some fun take the Pet Personality Quiz. I took it and these are my results. It described our cat a lot! Check it out!

The B.F.F.

You'll often find these cats nestled under a warm beam of sunlight, waiting for you to come home. Other than cat naps, their favorite part of the day is hanging out with you. If you have a glass of water, they want to drink it. If you walk into another room, they'll follow. If you're trying to clean a table, they're walking on it. Basically whatever you are doing, they want to be a part of it.

To be human to these pets:

Take a few seconds away from whatever you are doing to reach down and pet them. That's all they need, just to know that you care. Because of their love of the cat nap, a good bed is also a great thing to have for these pets.

Fall is Here!

I'm so glad fall is finally here! Who's ready to wear sweaters, scarfs and all the comfy clothes? I know I am! Right now my apartment is cool, I'm enjoying it. I'm about to make oatmeal after I finish with this post. With lots of canela/cinnamon. Que rico!

I have to go run errands today. Have to do grocery shopping, crossing my fingers they have a good sale going on. I also have to go to the library to do a print out. Not because I want to because I have to walk a lot to get there. Worse is up a hill. But my printer ran out of ink and I don't want to buy a $25 cartridge just to print out a paper.

As you can see I changed the header. I can't decide on the background yet. It still a work in progress. I have to change a few things. I hope everyone likes it, then again it is very hard to please everyone. Different people, different taste. I try though, because without readers there is no point on having a blog right?

Bueno, to cook oatmeal I go. I'm hungry and I have to do some things before heading out. Hope everyone is enjoying their day so far!♥♥

Home Decorating.

Contributed by Milford Woods

My husband is the only man in our house. We have three beautiful daughters together, which can leave him feeling overwhelmed by women. His sanctuary has always been the garage. Whenever dresses and makeup gets to be too much for him, he will retreat to this area, sometimes for hours. After helping him clean out the garage last spring, I realized just how drab the space was. We don't use the space to park cars and we have a large storage shed holding most of our tools and yard equipment, so I thought it would be a great idea to turn the garage into more of a room for him.

I had no clue what I was getting myself into when I decided to help him take on this project. Getting to see how excited he was about flipping this area, was more than enough to keep me motivated. We used our clear internet (more info) to find other ideas for similar areas and decided that we needed to add dry wall to really complete the look. While he set out to complete this task, I decided to pick out the perfect furniture and accessories for decorating a man room. The end result was exactly what he needed, in fact at times I find that my daughters prefer to watch TV out in his room as well.

Oh The Pain...

I went out yesterday to run errands and although I didn't walked as much as other times I got home with a horrible pain on my right ankle. I couldn't go down the stairs at the train station. The pain made me flinch. You know this is NY so people want to climb over your head if you don't go down the stairs quickly. So there I was trying to go down the stairs as quickly as possible and in horrible pain. I don't know what the hell happened. I have to go out today again for an appointment and to run more errands and my ankle it still hurting. Of course I don't have an ankle brace when I need one. That should be fun!

Anyway, I did a review on Edge Nail Art some time ago. I really like their products. Wish I could get another style because the ones I have don't go good with every nail polish. I did my nails a few days ago and wanted to share how they look. These are like metal studs. Don't judge, lol. Love the look. I was in a hurry when I did it so I just didn't do anything elaborate. Next time! Anyone else have used their products? I would like to see what you have done with it.Photobucket

WaterAid - We Take It For Granted.

Water, we tend to take it for granted everyday without thinking that there are 4,000 children that die each year from something as common as diarrhea due to lack of clean water. I have to admit that I am guilty of leaving the water running when I'm cooking. After looking at the video below I feel guilty for taking for granted that we have water everyday and all we have to do is open a faucet.

WaterAid America is an organization that every year helps countries develop systems to provide clean water for poor communities. They also help them with sanitation.
WaterAid enables the world's poorest people to gain access to safe water and sanitation. Together with improved hygiene, these basic human rights underpin health, education and livelihoods, forming the first essential step in overcoming poverty. We work with local partners, who understand local issues, and provide them with the skills and support to help communities set up and manage practical and sustainable projects that meet their real needs. We also work locally and internationally to change policy and practice and ensure that water, hygiene and sanitation's vital role in reducing poverty is recognized.
Imagine not being able to offer your child a clean glass of water when they say "Mami I'm thirsty". Or having to cook with muddy water. Not having the proper way to use the bathroom. These families have to deal with this every single day!

But it doesn't have to be that way. With your donation you can help provide these communities with clean water for these children. I know these are hard times but every dollar count. So please chip in and help a child live a longer life.

megree is hosting the exclusive online preview of The Burden of Thirst! Everyone who makes a donation will be entered into a drawing that will allow them a chance to win a signed photograph. Winner will be announced on October 20th, 2010. The online gallery will be available on megree until October 18th. The Burden of Thirst gallery exhibition of photographs will be open to the general public from September 20th to the 24th at the Soho Gallery. Join Lynn Johnson, the photo journalist, in person for a special evening on September 23rd from 5:30-10PM!

Take a look at this video so you can have an idea of what WaterAid and Megree will be doing with every dollar you chip in.

Sunday Funnies!

I said I wasn't going to post anymore for today but had to post my Sunday Funnies and wanted to share a creepy crawler I found two days ago crawling up the wall behind my monitor. Scared the shit out of me, lol. It was in early in the morning as in 4AM. Not something you want to find at that time of night! I killed it right away because I didn't wanted that thing crawling up my leg, eww. Sorry creepy crawlers loving people.

Ok, so now to my Sunday funnies. Today's theme is computers! Hope everyone is enjoying their day. I'm enjoying mine, nothing out of the ordinary though. Same shit, different day with music and all. Music keeps me sane!Photobucket

Easy With Boost Mobile!

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of Boost Mobile. All opinions are 100% mine.

If you are like me you are on a budget then Boost Mobile is for you. Like most people I don't like having a contract with my cell phone service. I want to be able to do whatever I want when I want to. Not have to wait 2 years to change service etc. Just think you can have a Blackberry with all the great features for $60 a month! Like a 2.0 MP camera, music player, full qwerty keypad, enhanced browser, email access and a microSD card. The best thing there is no contract and no worries about going over your minutes because you keep texting your friends or updating your Facebook.

Need to Re-Boost your phone? They have 3 easy ways to do it. You can do it by phone, online or in person. You can even use your debit card or set it up for automatic payments. That way you don't have to worry about it. Don't like a Blackberry, you have other options as well. Like the Motorola iL, I love the way it looks! It has a big screen, camera, and messaging with AOL, Yahoo and MSN. Next time I'm buying a cell I'm definitely looking at Boost Mobile!

Feels Like Fall!

Feels like fall today, yay! I'm so happy is around the corner. I love the cooler weather, the smell in the air, wearing sweaters, scarfs, hats and not have my make up melt off right away! My windows are open to let the air run through the apartment. Now if only I could bake from scratch the atmosphere would be complete, lol. I bake a lot but out of a box. As a matter of fact I baked a french vanilla cake two days ago! He, he.

It's fairly quiet outside but then again is still early. My daughter is over at a friend's house so is quieter in here also. Well until my son wakes up and my cat starts meowing that is. My cat is like another kid. He meows for attention, food and paws at my arm when he wants me to pick him up, lol. I love that cat even if he makes me itchy. I have to get the furminator to get rid off some of that fur...

We finally rented the Clash of the Titans. I loved the original with Harry Hamlin. Back in the days when I saw it I went gaga over it. The special effects were cool and I loved the story. I hope this version doesn't disappoint especially with Mr. Hoteness Sam Worthington. He's the "it" man these days. I so love his voice! Talking about movies, I saw Percy Jackson: The Lightning Thief last week. I really liked the movie and so did mis hijos/my children but the end could have been better. It was just an eh ending. Another thing what happened to the woman who played Percy's Mom? She looked like she didn't know how to act but I know she can act. Her acting in this movie was bad though. Am I the only one who noticed?

Bueno, I have to do laundry and cook dinner soon because tomorrow is school day so things have to be done earlier that usual. I hope everyone is having a good day!♥♥

Cheetos Mighty Zingers Review.

I don't know about you but I love freebies. I follow a couple of blogs that are about freebies and coupons. Yesterday I received a sample bag of Cheetos Mighty Zingers Ragin' Cajun & Tangy Ranch courtesy of Walmart. I was surprised by the size of the bag, it was the size of a nowadays 99cents bag although it should really cost 50cents. The good old days when we could get a feast of snacks with a $1!

I didn't know what to expect but I have to say it tasted delicious! Has the right amount of spiciness and tangy flavor. As you can see it has two flavors in the same bag, Ragin' Cajun and Tangy Ranch. That's what makes it so rico/delish. There is also another flavor, Sharp Cheddar Cheese and Salsa Picante. Looking forward to trying that one too. Funny how now products name their flavors in Spanish to let people know that it is HOT/COOL, lol. We are everywhere mi gente.

Oh, sorry. Didn't mean to get off subject here. For the health conscious people. These has 0g trans fat and it has no gluten ingredients. Perfect snack to go with a Coke, Pepsi or better yet a sandwich. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it, lol. My daughter loved them too. First thing she said, we are definitely looking for it at the supermarket. These are a must have for movie time, watching sports or just hanging out at the park. Yum!

Fall TV Season Premieres Starting Today!

As you all probably know by now I have lots of TV shows I watch. Although I stopped watching a few because it was too much to keep up with. Anyway, today is the season premiere of The Vampire Diaries! I'm so excited, the season finale was freaking good. Every nerve of my body was awake that's all I can say!

You know, I am glad this show didn't turned out to be the high school shitty drama I thought it would be. I hope it doesn't turn into one either! This show has a great story, great characters and I love that not all the characters are young-ins. Like those shows where the characters are not adults but you never see their parents around, lol. Plus look at those hot vampires! Yes, you can call me a cougar, lol. Look at this poster!

My daughter loves this show too, we enjoy an hour or two together of girl time which I love! My son makes fun of us for watching shows like these, lol. He puts a girly voice and says "But I love you..." LOL I'm doing everything early today so I can sit and enjoy it!Photobucket

A new show starts today on CW, Nikita. Although I don't know how that skinny little girl/woman is supposed to kick ass I'm going to watch the pilot because I'm curious. If she were to gain 10 pounds it would make the show more believable. But whatever, I want to see what the fuss is all about. I wasn't all that impressed with the trailer so I hope seeing the whole episode will change that. What do you think? Are you going to watch it?

I posted the Fall TV calendar not too long ago but here it is again just in case you haven't seen it. I had no idea The Vampires Diaries was starting today until I looked at the guide while I was setting the DVR. I almost missed it! Oh, the horror!

In Harry Potter's Shoes.

Guest post written by Charlotte Hawkins

My grandkids just love all the Harry Potter movies and books. So I've of course been the one to take them to see most of the movies. So when I heard that they were opening up a Harry Potter theme park I was so excited to take them! But before we went I wanted to make sure that I would get the full experience of it so I got some hearing tests and bought some hearings aids.

I was so glad because I got to take in all the sights and sounds of Hogwarts and the Hogsmeade village. They even had a fake little Hagrid's hut set up! We even drank some butterbeer - which doesn't have alcohol in it - and got to try on wands for size at the little wand shop, just like in the movies!

I'm pretty sure that I had more fun there than my grandkids did and I'm already planning our next trip! I'm going to look up some butterbeer recipes and try to make them for them. I doubt they'll be as good as the real deal at the park, but I'm sure they'll still be delicious!
